Re: In your kitchen....
counter space? what's that? I have none in my apartment. I gave that up when I moved to the 2-bedroom with a dining room. I dream of a big kitchen with lots of counter space (like in the fridge post)
I only have my drain board. I also keep my knife box and a few more commonly used appliance (in boxes) on top of my fridge. All the rest sit in boxes in closets waiting to be used and dug out as needed.
I need a dreaming of a big kitchen smiley.......

Re: In your kitchen....
This is going to sound like a lot, but I have two walls of counter space. We leave out the toaster, coffee maker, 4 decorative canisters, a mug tree, banana tree, paper towel holder, cookie jar, cutting board, potpourri burner, and decorative utensil holder.

Re: In your kitchen....
Our kitchen is tiny and had no counter space so brian built a 2 shelf counter for us. We have the microwave, george forman grill, deep fryer, bottles of soda, misc items. On the small counter that came with the apartment we have 2 blocks of knives and my cappacino maker that I've used 5 times.
In the house we are having built we'll have tons of counter space. i cant wait for the counter space
I can totally relate to the samll kitchens...my last apt was awful...but now I keep EVERYTHING on my counters!!
coffee maker...bowl for junk...mail sorter...drainer...coffee maker...sugar and flour containers...knife set...toaster...container for kitcher utensils...flavored oils...coffee bean grinder
and my purse goes on the counter every day

Re: In your kitchen....
Okay, first of all, I need to add that my pocketbook also sits on the kitchen counter.
Second... Chippa, you have a deep fryer?! I LOVE those!!! When I was in high school (stop reading if gluttony makes you sick ) my friends and I would buy pizza dough, slather it in butter, and fry the whole thing and eat it. DEE-LISH! That was waaaaay back when my size 4 homecoming dress needed to be taken in, but oh, were those the days!!!

Drainboard, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, toaster oven (yes we have both), knife holder, utensil pot, 2 cutting boards, and all of Gary's crap that he leaves, he thinks that space is a catch all for papers, his wedding ring , credit cards, change, etc....

Re: In your kitchen....
I also have NO counter space , I hate this and I also dream of a big kitchen with lots and lots of counter space. I ask because I see some homes I see on TV or in mags, the only thing on their counter tops are utensils and maybe canisters. I like keeping my things out like my drainboard, coffee maker, knife block set, spice rack, utensils in their holder etc

Re: In your kitchen....
2 blendars?? i can match that, we have 2 microwaves. yea dont ask...
yes we have a deep fryer..i bought it for FI for his birthday. We LOVE it. he makes the best mozzerella sticks.
havent had them in so long...
the only thing that stinks is this counter FI built is perfect for him but its too tall for me. I am 5 foot and if i want to use the deep fryer i have to stand on the step ladder. The top of the counter is 4 feet from the floor which is just about shoulder height on me. so for me to use the deep fryer i need the step ladder
