He just doesnt get it! We keep having the same argument about the rehearsal dinner. His parents are paying for it and FH and his mom seem to think that our list is out of control. WE ONLY HAVE 29 PEOPLE!!!! you offer to pay, thats how it goes! you can cut people now bc you dont want to pay for them. and to top it off, our 'gift' gets lowered the more people we invite. they set aside an amount for the RD and anything over that comes out of our gift. heres who i have
me and FH (2) MOH (1) BM (1) BM (1) BM (1) BM (1) FG and her parents (3) RB and his parents (3) BestMan and wife (2) GM (1) GM (1) GM (and wife) (2) GM (1) My parents (2) His parents (2) His grandmother (1) My grandparents (4)
i cant cut anyone. he feels that the FG and Rb dont have to be there!!! this aggrivates me bc they do have to go. kids more than anyone need to have a heads up as to what is going on. and you cant just invite them to the Rehearsal and not the dinner. everyone knows they go to a dinner after. I cant stand this. He always takes his moms side. i wish that just once he would stand by me! I told him that I wont go to the RD this way they can save the money!

It isn't fair that they offer to pay and then tell you that you have to cut your list, unfortunately it happens! I got a max amount of ppl I can invite, but it was based on the price of the vendor we chose. Can you find an inexpensive place and make up for the list like that??

I feel your pain!!! we have not started planning the RD yet, but we have a feeling that either we have to pay for it ourselves or it will be taken out of our gift as well.
Either way it is really the same amount of money coming out of our pocket in the end. So, if you have to pay for the extra people or they take it out of your gift does it really matter in the end it is sort of the same thing.
By the way my FH wants to go to chucky cheese this way it is cheap and everybody can drink and play in the ball pit - nothing like childhood memories.

hmm.. had to chime in.. my fh is an only child also, and his folks haven't done a dang on thang but pay for the RD.. then had nerve to complain that there are so manymore of my family members than his.. uh.. my mom is paying almost half of the reception hall..and gift? HA! i doubt we'll get ANYTHING from fh's parents.. ANYTHING AT ALL..
anyhoo.. try to find a hall that has a discout price for childre.. and maybe one that does a seniors discount too.. lol. that would cut down on pricing..

WOW that is nuts, i know our FIL's offered to pay for the rehersal dinner and they estimate 70 people there
I really hope its less than that, but since they are paying they can invite who they want
