Incorporating Kids in Ceremony

Incorporating Kids in Ceremony

Wanted to get some ideas from others who may have come across these things.
FH has a daughter (13 yrs) who I've asked to be a jr. bridesmaid. Does this sound appropriate? We think so and she seems excited too.
Also FH has 7 nieces/nephews all varying ages from 4-12 yrs. How can we incorporate them all into the cermony some how? Should we? Its a tight knit family but a small wedding. Any ideas, thanks all

Re: Incorporating Kids in Ceremony

My DH had his 11 year old son as his best man. Sure she can be a bridesmaid. We also had a special piece added to our ceremony to recognize his son and us becoming a family. After the unity candle lighting, we presented him with a gift. We placed a chain and gold cross on him and the priest said some very nice words about how we will always be there for each other now that we are a family. It was a very special part of our wedding. As for the nices and nephews, they could all be junior BM's and groomsmen or ring bearers, but that could get expensive, maybe they could all be in charge of certain things like programs, distributing rice or whatever the guests will throw. They could also all be honorary ushers. It depends how big you want to make your wedding party and if their parents are all willing to pay the expenses of being in a wedding. Good Luck!!!

Ahh, I have the same thing! I have 8 nieces and nephews and FH has 1 niece. Here's what we're doing:

FH's niece + 1 of my nieces - flower girls
1 nephew - ring bearer
2 nieces (also my goddaughters) - doing readings
1 nephew (he'll be 14) - invited to the reception
the rest (2 nieces, 1 nephew) - handing out the programs

Other than my oldest nephew, the rest will leave after cocktail hour.

I think it's totally appropriate for her to be a Jr. Bridesmaid -
As for the 7 other kids - I'd be a little more careful of that -Especially if it's a tight family - It would probably have to be ALL or none -

We too are incorporating a lot of children in our wedding. This is how we are thinking of doing it:

My nephew: Jr. Usher (10 years old)
FH's niece: Jr. BM (10 years old)
My niece: FG (6 years old)
FH's nephew: RB (4 years old)

I have another little niece who will be 3 at the time of the wedding. I'm thinking of having her walk down with her sister (FG) - maybe have 2 FG's
