Indecisive on this venue search...

Indecisive on this venue search...

My fiance and I are really quite simple and don't consider ourselves picky people...but for some reason...finding a venue we like has been really tough for us. We've been engaged for 7 months (and counting). We currently reside in NYC (born and raised Long Islanders). I'm from Long Beach. We want to find a venue that meets BOTH of our interests. I want a beach themed wedding with some elegance of the NYC lifestyle (considering he's more of a city guy).

I am not knocking any venue, but we've seen about 20 (that's including BridgeView in LB and Sands in Atlantic Beach) . We started out in NYC to get an idea of venue searching, realized we were no Donald Trump and continued the search on the island in hopes to meet our budget. We've had too many proms, bar/bat mitzvahs, friend's weddings all in Long Island venues...so we were actually looking for something different.

What we're REALLY looking for is to accommodate 300+ guests comfortably (yes, that's expecting...not inviting) and would love A HUGE dance floor - I guess we're just nervous we'll be cramped with 300+ people in some of the venues we've seen. (Picky much?)

We loved Crescent Beach Club in Bayville (our #1 choice) but with our budget, we really can't afford it for 300+ people. We've seen a bunch that seemed too small for us and a bunch that did not match our personalities.

We're considering Woodbury Country Club for a few reasons:

They're well known, willing to negotiate for 300+ people, it's a beautiful place, and the people are awesome there. They throw a great party...and to me, that's obviously very important...
but is it truly big enough for 300 people? Is the dance floor big enough to hold 200+ people doing the Hora and a bride break dancing to Michael Jackson?

Need help before I start graying at age 26.

thanks so much to whomever reads this...REALLY appreciate any feedback whatsoever :)

Im not sure if chateau la mer can hold over 300 people but I suggest you check them out. Good luck on your venue search!

What about Allegria or Ocean Bleu or Montauk Yacht Club?

Milleridge can hold like 400 but it's not on the beach

I have nothing to add other than the bride break dancing to Michael Jackson is awesome. Don't go gray. Something is out there for you.

I know that Bellport CC can hold a lot of people too (300+ I think). Its beachy and it was budget friendly.

Thanks so much! I thought Chateu La Mer was beautiful, but not sure it can hold the amount of people, either.

Thanks for the suggestion! REally appreciate it!

Thanks so much for your feedback.

Allegria would be great, but the venue doesn't hold 300+ people, unfortunately. Oh how nice it would be to wake up and get ready to party in my backyard.
Ocean Bleu also doesn't hold up to 300 guests.

It makes it easier when we know places can't accommodate our numbers, but also frustrating...ah.

Montauk Yacht Club may be a little too far for some guests (hey, maybe it'll cut the guest list down! HAHA)

I'll check out Milleridge. I'm pretty open to places not on the beach ...would like to make it a little beach themed but its ok! So if the place is willing to deal with me transforming the look to a more nautical environment, then awesome!

Thanks so much for your help, much appreciated!!

Check out Sand Castle. The name itself is pretty beachy lol but the interior is beautiful and elegant. Its a single event venue and only caters to weddings. Also I believe she said their reception room can hold up to 400 people. Their dance floor covers the entire room. Definitely worth looking into! GL!

Yea the milleridge has the size and the dance floor that you're looking for and is definitely not your typical venue.. and considering you liked the crescent beach club, you might like the milleridge cottage since they are kinda similar on the inside (minus the beach). It's got a good per place price too so it may be a good choice for you guys

also, in order to open your venue search up a bit, you could always opt for a non-beach venue and just take bridal party pics by the beach in between the ceremony and reception (if you're having a church ceremony)

I went to a wedding at Woodbury county club that had 325 people at it and it was more than big enough.

Water's Edge definitely couldn't hold that many.....they also make your guests wait in a hallway while they switch your room over from CH to reception.

I had my wedding at the Inn at New Hyde Park, it can hold 300. Also Woodbury CC, Flowerfield, Floral Terrace, maybe Crest Hollow? Good luck!
