Indian Food?

Indian Food?

I am having Indian food at the wedding, but I am little concerned about providing food for my Non-Indian co-workers and friends. Some of them have had Indian food before and are accustomed to the taste, but many are not familiar with our food. So the big question:

Should I have at least one or two dishes at the buffet that they would consider eating or should I just have the Indian buffet and hope for the best? I'm open to suggestions...

I went to an Indian wedding for a coworker a couple of years ago, I found it and the food absolutely fascinating! The servers at the buffet table were very good about explaining the dishes to those of us who were unfamiliar. They explained what it was and how it was prepared and they promised us we would love it and we did!!

I'm probably not the best person to answer since I like Indian food and am pretty adventurous. It depends how difficult it would be. Maybe your caterer could provide a very mild dish, like plain chicken or something? There's also plenty of nan and probably salad... ? I guess you can guage your friends. Even if they've never eaten Indian per se, have you ever gone out to dinner with them and seen them eat anything else that's spicy?

I think it would be nice of you to provide a few non-Indian dishes for your guests.

I'm very familiar with the Sands Atlantic and go to at least two formal functions there a year. Are they doing the catering or are they allowing you to bring in outside caterers?

my FBIL and FSIL had indian food at their wedding, but also had american food for their non-indian guests and i think they were very appreciative of it.

i love indian food too, but i think that would be thoughtful of you to provide non-indian food to those who aren't as adventurous.

p.s. i attended an indian wedding this past october at the sands @ atlantic beach, and the ceremony set-up was stunning.

also, they had dj guddah and he kept the guests dancing all day (it was a lunch wedding)--- i love indian weddings! they're so fun!

the food was really good, but like i said, i love indian food. don't remember the name of the caterer (sorry)

I love indian food, but NONE of my friends do!! I would have a few non-indian dishes just in case they don't like it.

I love Indian food so I don't know how much my opinion should count, but I say just go for Indian buffet and hope for the best. Just include tandori and some mild dishes and everyone should be fine.

I would say yes. I've tried it numerous times and finally gae up because the spices don't agree with me. FH as well.
