Indian food Q: Does anyone know...

...what that green condiment is called that they usually give you? I made Baigan Bhartha (eggplant) the other day-came out great-but it was missing that stuff that I have no idea the name of....if I knew I could find a recipe.

Help!

it is actually made with those mint leaves- not parsely but something like that.

there is no coconut in it. my mom makes it at her house- i like hers better than at the restaurants. but you can get them in the bottle at indian grocery stores like the other girls mentioned.

i'll ask my mom how she makes it.

Thanks for the info! I looked up a few recipes and some also had cilantro in them, some didnt, some had ginger, some didn't and I did find one with coconut. I'd love a recipe! Mmmmmm!

mint chutney? You can order it online (do a search on google) if you can't find it in a store close by. Or, you could make it, but I usually buy it at an Indian market.

Elizabeth...I LOVE Indian food!! Next time you are making Im coming over!!

I found a couple of receipes, easy ones, for red lentil (daal) and a chicken dish. I cant wait to try them. Do you make basmati rice? I love it but have you tried jasmine rice? Even better!!

I may have had that one too at my mom's.
She's the one who got us buying that stuff.
I will pick it up next time I shop.
I'm actually using my rice tonight to make dinner.
