Indian wedding attire question

my husband is Indian and is cousin is getting married and they are having an Indian wedding.

I am unsure as to what I should wear? Is a salwar kameez appropriate? are there any other types of outfits i can wear? should i stay away from certain colors?

Also, is there is a store, perhaps in Jackson Heights or the City, that has more 'contemporary' Indian apparrel?

indian weddings are all about colors and loud blingy clothes.. you can wear a salwar, but it has to be glammed up since you are now part of the family.. you could wear a lengha or a sari..

i'd stay from black.. not considered auspicious and especially white.. in hindu/sikh weddings, white is not a color you would wear to weddings.. hth

Re: Indian wedding attire question

There are a lot of stores in Jackson Heights and Richmond Hill that have beautiful lengas. I would go to Richmond Hill because if you dont wear indian clothing often, you don't want to spend $300 on an outfit. The stores in Richmond Hill are reasonable and you can find something decent for about $100.

Here is a link of most of the stores in Richmond Hill. If you're not fimilar with the area, it's the Liberty Avenue exit off the Van Wyck Expressway. Hope this helps you.
