Inexpensive But Elegant Centerpiece Ideas

Hi all!!

Looking for some inexpensive but elegant centerpiece ideas... not looking to spend an arm and a leg on hugely over the top centerpieces that are going to die... would much rather something simple, elegant.... maybe a lot of candles....

I am totally crazy about my silly idea... here's what I've come up with:

I got these 'vases' (it's in quotes because they're actually water pitchers!) from Target. I had to go to 5 stores to get 15 of them because they're only sold in store and each store only has 2 to 4 of them. It was kinda a fun little adventure in shopping.



I think I'm going to use these in the bottom of the vases from dollar tree:



My plan is to work with my florist to have about 8-10 roses (white or lavendar) in each vase on each table.

Just before illuminations went out of business, I ordered 45 small tealight votives in opaque green, lavender, and white (one of each color for each table) and I plan to get electric tea lights to put in those and put on the table as well as this centerpiece.

I didn't want anything high because sometimes I've found that high ceterpieces take away from people talking, and we really want to encourage lots of chatter at our wedding. I love the simplicity of all this.

You could go with candles, or vases filled with something other than flowers.
OR

I see you're an October bride... you could do a fruit centerpiece... pumpkins, apples, etc.

Look in my album under 'non pro pics'. There's a pic of the centerpieces. They were simple yet elegant. They gave off such a romantic feel when the lights were down low. I used floralytes at the bottom of the vases. Everyone loved them and ppl actually took the vases and the lights home (which I was NOT expecting lol). Ut everyone loved them. Also they were so inexpensive and so easy to set up. The rh set them up based on my instructions with no problem.

yeah we like the idea of nature-ish type stuff.... woods... branches.... i've even seen really cool glass cylinders filled with coffee beans and flowers which i like...

but i don't want it to be TOOOO fall fest-ish... y'know? it'd be so easy to go overboard with leaves and gourds and stuff....

Hmmm I agree.
If you were to do fruits or some sort of thing like that, you could put them in some sort of low container (for lack of better word) made of oak. I think that would take away from the fallish and make it more sophisticated fallish.

i love those floralite columns -- what an interesting idea and it looks so pretty....

our colors are fall colors (obviously) so I wonder if we can get some more orangey or yellow lites...

I saw the most amazing centerpiece at an expo a few weeks ago. I cannot remember who it was and I cannot find photos online.

They took a sqaure vase. Probably about 8' square and 4' tall. The trimmed the stems of all the roses and placed them in the vase. The did the same thing for a very large round vase. It was so pretty and elegant.

I got 20 vases from Walmart. They were $1.00 each. What I'm going to do is have all candles. The vase can hold a 6' pillar candle. Then all around that we will have tea light candles. My room also have a skylight ceiling so it will look great. Then just for some color I'm have rose petals scatted around the candles.

1. You can buy river stones/pebbles and fill tall vases with branches. Buy inexpensive crystals and a few stems of orchids. String crystals and orchids on branches so they look like they cascading down. Make sure to get a few people to help you. Simple and elegant look.

2. Create low centerpieces with rectangular/square vases with orchids (colors upon your preference) add some freesias. Light some tea lights around the table for a soft romantic look.

3. Use bamboo stalks/thin hollow rectangular wooden board for this zen like centerpiece. If you're using bamboo stalk, split and cut bamboo stalk in half. Fill up with rock salt in each compartment of the bamboo stalk. Place and light tea light candles. If you're using thin hollow rectangular wooden board, make sure it's really thin not thick and it leaves you 1/2' to 1' space in each compartment to fill in rock salt and place tea light candles.
For a beachy look, fill compartment with sand and pebbles or river stones.

4. Do Keepsake Display Box. Display each table with a shadow box filled with memorabilia of your first date, movie stubs, concert tickets, photos, trinkets, ribbon, embellishments, etc. Leave it your imagination. Get background paper or fabrics (of your choice) for the back panel of the shadowbox. The rest is all glue or straight pins or double-sided foam tape. Once you're done, you got yourself a beautiful display.

ETA: ugh its too big. It has like curly willow branches wth only a couple big flowers in a tall cylinder vase.
