Inexpensive Dance Lessons
My FH and I signed up to take ballroom dancing for beginners at Nassau Community College continuing education program. It's $85 per person for 10 group lessons. You don't need to be a Nassau County resident (FH lives in Queens)We figured that it would be a good way for us to see how quickly we picked dancing up, and then maybe just take a few private lessons at Fred Astaire or something.
You can call Nassau at (516) 572-7472 for more info.

Thanks for the info!! Just wanted to let everyone know that I just checked and Queens College offers it too. It's $135 for 10 lessons though. Here's the link Queens College Continuing education

I just want to chime in that private lessons are sooo expensive but so worth it! I wish I had the $$$ to go everyday.

Re: Inexpensive Dance Lessons
I know places like Arthur Murray are SO expensive, but as a person who's done the group and the private - I have to say I learn way more in the private lessons.

Re: Inexpensive Dance Lessons
My Fi wanted to just buy 5 or 6 privates, they are $95 each, so the woman sold us 5 privates, 5 semi privates & 5 group for $600. I don't even know if we'll use them all.

Re: Inexpensive Dance Lessons
Rich - if you were to buy the private lessons alone, it would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $90 each so even if you don't use all the groups, its still pretty good. Don't feel bad - you will love them. When do you start?

Re: Inexpensive Dance Lessons
That's what we figured-Arthur Murray charges $95 p/private. We started last Tuesday, we'll go every Tuesday till our wedding & any extra times we can fit in. My Fi thinks its a good idea to do a few groups so he can figure out how to steer me around without crashing!!!! I can't believe my Fi loves it! I knew I would-are you taking lessons steph?

Yes and I love it. We have an amazing instructor. My FH still hates to dance but really feels comfortable with our instructor which is 1/2 the battle.

We are going to Victor Goldman (advertiser on this site under dancing) He is $70 per hour and worth every penny. We started taking lessons with another couple that was only $50 but they were not very good. Victor is great to work with.Welcome New Vendors
