It's affordable. You can't see the side, it may be small but nice. It may be an option for a first time homebuyer!

It's depressing to me that 'inexpensive' on LI is over $300k.

It is sad that the house in that picture is cheap for $329k. I think i know where that house is too, and it isnt a great part of oceanside.

It's on Yorktown Street or Yorktown Place or something like that. My house is the same size in Lynbrook and $30000 more. It is very depressing, but it's a start. I would much rather buy a small house I could afford than live paycheck to paycheck...or rent.

I'd rather continue to live in my 2br co-op than by that house.

Sorry, but I agree....I would rather wait and save more money for a down payment so we could buy a bigger house.

Atleast with a co op, you are putting money towards a something that will most likely appreciate.

I give up~

Why do you think that? I know that area and I think it's fine.

But I agree unless it's a very bad pic of the house and the inside is georgeous it's not worth the money.

It's still 45 mins to NYC if you commute and you can get houses in NJ for that cost that are much nicer with the same commuting time.

Pook, thanks though!

I don't think it would be a bad starter house.....you can always fix it up and resell it.....and move into something larger....

no need to be so negative when someone is just trying to help!!

Here is my shack. Yes, it looks like a shack...but inside, is a beautiful home.

The outside of some homes can be very deceiving.Pics of inside

In the last three months, I have been to houses where the outsides were amazing, and the insides smelled like curry or cat. I didn't even want to see our house, the real estate agent told me to give it a chance.

No offense to the negativity, but we choose to live in LI, where the taxes are higher than a months rent and you can't get much for your money. Sad but true. I am just happy I am buying a house~especially in Lynbrook~at all.

Alias, I saw your house when we were looking, we drove right by it and I recognized it from your post, we were looking at a home in the area w/our RE.

Your house is gorgeous and has a lot of charm!

Also, it is smart IMO to get in the market when you can because homes appreciate faster than any of us can save.

OMG Laurie--- your house is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I LOVE your kitchen! The vines on the ceiling are awesome... and I love the cabinets!

Yes everyone... the outsides CAN be deceiving... just a teaser but this is what my house looks like... and it is absolutely gorgeous on the inside (I'll post pics another time)

I have seen that house before..You posted it when you bought it. It is very nice, and the inside is really nice too. I didnt mean to offend anyone with my comment...I am just so annoyed that it is so expensive to live in a small house like that. Yeah it could be built up into something bigger but that requires money, a lot of money...If I am buying a house for around $330k, I do not want to have to put a lot of money into it to make it nice. If that house wasnt in oceanside, and it was in Valley Stream.....I bet the price would be a lot lower....You pay for the town it is in.....

Scott

No offense to the VS people...I was just using your town as an example.

I'm sorry but for that kind of $$$ the houses should be nice INSIDE and OUT! You all know that the house prices were much lower a few years ago and I think people are just disgusted with the amount they have to pay for a house now when they know that the same style house was A LOT cheaper not that long ago.

I am a 2 time home buyer on Long Island...

Laurie your house is not a shack. It's absolutely beautiful! We just bought our home in Bellmore last year so I know exactly how hard it was finding one that's affordable and home on Long Island....

I feel the same way...between the price of houses and the taxes, I don't know how people do it. FH and I have good jobs, but even $329 would be hard for us.
