Inexpensive Mini- Engagement Party suggestions

Any ideas? We were thinking of doing a very casual get-together on Valentine's Day for our close family and bridal party...

How about a dessert party at your house? Or a cocktail party...just some passed appetizers, beer wine etc. Both of those options should be casual, fun and relatively inexpensive if you dont go overboard

I agree...something at your house is nice and informal..or either one of your parents houses. Maybe even have it catered if you don't want to cook?

We had a mini eparty for just our families, not even bridal party that were non-family members. More like just a let's have the grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins meet each other type thing. We just had it at FH's house, they threw it so I don't know how much it was, but they just had some apps, lots of wine, some catered trays from an Italian place, and some desserts and cake...it was a pretty low key thing, but it was nice and a lot of fun! If you have the space to do it in, I would suggest something like that.

Thanks! I am open to that except that we'd have to find a house to have it at. My dad's house won't work, not sure if FH's wants to have it at theirs. I am just trying gather some ideas...

You could check at a local restaurant. Ask for a pre set menu of about $20-$25 per person. Or it could be cheaper than that if you have buffet style. A lot of restaurants are suffering during this economy and may be willing to work with you. just get chicken! lol

You could bring your own dessert (cupcakes) and your own wine (if they permit it)
