Infant Congestion
My poor boy has been suffering with what the doctors call infant congestion since he was born. At first, they said it was due to him being a c-sec baby and they naturally have more congestion. Now, it seems this is a 'normal' thing for babies - small nose, flat bridge of nose, etc. They say there is nothing we can do for him except what we are doing - saline drops, head elevated, cool mist humidifier. There is nothing in his lungs - it's all in his head - his nose and throat. I can hear mucus rattling around in his throat, and I swear sometimes it sounds like he is suffocating.
It drives me nuts because I want him to feel good and his breathing is so tough! He's stuffy and noisy and can't seem to take a good deep breath. The ped says this can last up to 3 - 4 months. But as his mom, my heart is breaking for him because he sounds so miserable a lot of the time. Best part is, he is such a trooper about the whole thing! Rarely cries about it, tries his best to sleep (sleeps in his car seat all night long because he is most comfortable that way) and eat through it and is a pretty mellow kid! When he smiles at me, I just want to make everything all better, and I can't seem to do it! Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?
