No small kids are invited to the wedding but we got back an RSVP with an infant's name added. This is my uncle and his wife from OOT and my grandma is at their house helping with the new baby right now.
Grandma is coming to the wedding so obviously she cannot be OOT to keep the baby.
I am not sure how to make arrangements at the hall for the baby or what we can even do Keeping her in the bridal suite is not an option.
Suggestions
ETA - this is my new little cousin who will be at the wedding her mom makes this same face

Re: Infants at weddings?
I'm sort of in the same situation. I have a couple coming from OOT that just had a baby a month ago. They are leaving their 4 year old with relatives, but out of the blue, very non-chalent, she informed me that they are bringing the baby. I was a little blown away.
My question....Are they considered a seat? You can't just put them on the floor, right?

I am in the same situation and feel they are too little to have an actual seat and most of the time will be in someone's arms- I just plan on having this person at a table near a wall to accommodate her baby carriage and bags.

Call your hall to see if there is a room (not the bridal suite) where the baby and a baby sitter can stay. If they do, ask about using it and look into hiring a babysitter.

Re: Infants at weddings?
In some cases when you make the seating chart you can request a chair for a small child but not a plate setting therefore you dont have to pay. This is what I am doing for my 2 FG and RB. The will be 2, they are to big to go on the parents laps but not old enough to be served all that food.

Are people serious?? Adding names to the RSVP...I will be in big trouble if family members start adding kids...they won't fit in my hall!

Re: Infants at weddings?
Please don't be offended buit at what point does it become OUR obligation to make arrangements for a couple with a baby???
It is one day out of the year and not even more then 6 hours-
I just have strong feelings about this but I guess it is a reaction from what I have hadd to deal with regarding this issue.

Re: Infants at weddings?
I'm in the same boat because my MOH just informed me she will have to bring her 2 year old son with her to the wedding. I'm guessing he will be with my aunt and uncle for most of the day until the reception. But I wasn't sure if he was considered another plate or not.
I have him on my list as .5 instead of 1, because I think kids are half price. But since he's 2, I don't know where he falls.

Thanks ladies Great ideas!
I have had enough of arguing with people over the RSVP's so for this situation I did not even have my BM's make the call. The baby is very young and too small to even use a seat at the table so it's not an issue of paying for her meal. She will likely sit in her stroller/carrier all night asleep Plus, her mom breast feeds so I cannot even bring myself to ask that they leave the baby at home OOT.

I do not think we are obligated to make child care arrangements for guests but I do want them to attend so I am going to make some effort. They are coming from OOT so I can imagine they do not want to leave their infant with anyone locally.

same sit-only both my people were in the BP along with their 2 year old son-I casually suggested that ONLY for the hour of church they have someone watch the baby and ummm it erupted into the war of wars...she could not put herself out or anyone else but she could do it to us. Keep in mind that not everyone likes kids and not everyone wants to sit next to them all night long-

Re: Infants at weddings?
My future sister in law is having her baby 2 Weeks before my wedding. If she wants to bring it I told her that I will accommodate her with a bigger space ( instead of 10 ppl at the table im putting 8 or 9 ) and where the 10th person would be is where she is going to put the carriage. I dont think she will bring her though, I think its too young.

I feel the same way. A few of FH's friends have young kids (the oldest will be 2) and so now I have all of this added stress of dealing with these kids that they won't leave with a grandparent for the weekend or at the hotel with a sitter and I don't want them in my bridal suite, but it may come to that. One couple in particular keeps saying 'Our daughter will have so much fun at your wedding!' Oh, will she? Weird, 'cause she's not invited.

Re: Infants at weddings?
We had our six month old nephew at our wedding. My sil just brought his stroller and left it next to her chair....he slept in it through the hole reception. Children under 3 at our hall were free. Good luck.

Re: Infants at weddings?
INFANTS DO NOT REQUIRE A SEAT. ANYTIME I HAVE BEEN TO A WEDDING WHERE SOMEONE BROUGHT THEIR INFANT, THE MOM USUALLY JUST HELD THE BABY OR KEPT THEM IN THE STROLLER. I THINK THAT I HAVE A GUEST WHO WILL BE BRINGING THEIR BABY AND I'M PRETTY MUCH NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I DIDN'T INVITE THE INFANT SO I'M NOT GOING OUT OF MY WAY TO DO ANYTHING. I HAVE ENOUGH TO WORRY ABOUT. IF THEY WANT TO BRING THEIR CHILD, IT'S THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE THE BABY HAS WHAT IT NEEDS.

Re: Infants at weddings?
I believe a hall cannot charge you for an infant. Its not like the baby is going to eat during cocktail hour and the reception. Thats crazy if they do. Call the hall and see what they say.
Sorry to also comment, I think that is rude they decided on their own to invite this child without consulting with you and FH.

Re: Infants at weddings?
If it makes you guys feel any better, I have about 20 kids between the ages of 4 months to 7 years at my wedding of 100 minimum guarantee. And kids don't count so I'll have 120 there plus vendors! :P
How sad is that? *sigh*
I spoke to my sister and SIL about this and they are all telling me my family will probably boycott the wedding if I didn't give them the option to invite kids. To make matters worse they don't trust babysitters! :P
My advice for young brides is just to get married soon so you don't have to deal with your half dozen siblings all having kids within 5 years and counting! :P
