Info re bank cards

As some of you know I am coming to NYC to get married. This may seem a little off topic but can anyone give me any advice as to Maestro cards?

MY fiance has a VISA card which I know if totally accepted in the USA. My bank however has given me a Maestro card but says that lots of shops and ATM's in the USA take Maestro.

I am not sure about this. If they dont, I need to take US dollars and Travellers checks.

Can any of you fellow brides tell me whether you have noticed if any shops or ATM's in NYC take Maestro?

Ok...I don't know if I am correct but I think Maestro is the same as MasterCard.

Usually the ATM machines take all different types of credit cards. I would think especially in NYC with all the tourist.

You can check with your credit card company also. They most of the time can give you this kind of information.

Really helpful! Means I dont have to take travellers cheques!
