informal invitations for 'meet and greet' engagement party

Hi Brides, I could use some help! :) My fiance and I are hosting a 'meet and greet' for the bridal party and our immediate families. We are hosting this 'meet and greet' instead of a traditional engagement party bc our parents can't afford to throw us an engagement party and also bc I really want our close families and friends to get to know one another now to avoid any awkwardness during the planning process.

Anyway... I am at a loss for what kind of invitations to send out. Since traditional etiquette says we shouldn't host an engagement party for ourselves, I don't want to send formal e-party invites that make it seem like we're the guests of honor when really the bridal party/family are OUR guests of honor. Any advice or recommendations?

whoops- we're having a casual, backyard luau-themed engagement party in august. We sent out invitations from us, but said it was 'hosted by our families'.

We got our invites from walmart- they are actually pretty nice looking!
