I've finally narrowed down to my top 3 venues & wanted to get your opinions on what you thought of these sites based on your experiences importantly as wedding guests or secondly having visited the sites during your search. My dream site was the De Serversky mansion but unfortunately was out of our budget with the site fee. Ideally we are looking for a place that will satisfy foodie's standards & where the guests will be blown away by the site itself, whether it be the view seen at the OFC, the cocktail reception room of the Inn at NHP or the openness of rooms at Lands End.
a) Inn at New Hyde Park b) Lands End c) Old Field Club
Looking forward to reading all your thoughts! Thanks!!

My wedding at the Inn was 4 months ago, but I've also been to a wedding at LE. IMO, the food at the Inn is superior. The cocktail hour blows LE away and there is much more variety in your seated courses as well. It is $$$ though.
I don't know much about the Inn, but as for LE variety...Our guests had a choice of 4 entrees and some we chose had two entrees on it. There was a LOT of variety.
And I did not do a Viennese Hour but it wasn't needed. The dessert carts were unreal. And they sent us home with one piece of everything. I think I had about 16 desserts in my bag when I got home.

Re: Inn at NHP, Lands End or OFC
I was in love with OFC..but it was too small for my wedding and I was kinda thrown off by the dance floor placement...a coworker of mines son just got married there this past weekend and she said the food and service were amazing!
but I have not been to either of the others.

Re: Inn at NHP, Lands End or OFC
I still consider myself new to LIW but after seeing how many responses came back & all the informative comments from you all, I'm so glad I found this site. Extremely helpful, thank you all for your insights!!
I manually added up 'votes' (only saw the Poll function after some of the comments starting coming in..lol), looks like LE is leading by a wide margin.
This may be a difficult question to ask here but the intention is to get your honest opinion good & BAD, in order to remedy any issues as we start to finalize our decision & sit down with the RH to sign the contract OR even something as a bride I can take into consideration when planning the wedding. So.....what were some things in your opinion (which we all know may differ from others but would be helpful to hear) that you had noticed with these sites that can be improved on?
Once again thank you for all your help & even if you think there are add't venues we should see that are along the same lines as the ones in mentioned. We're planning a small wedding for around 120 guest & like a place where there is one wedding at a time & has an outdoor ceremony site. Here are a list of those we have seen already, some thoughts in IMO but will be different based on your taste / style so maybe the RH that didn't suit us was or will be the best wedding choice for you so feel free to FM if you want any info.
* Chateau La Mer - nice place & I thought it was decent but FH didn't like it with the 'flashy boat' arrival, which may be cool for others
* Venetian Yacht Club - this was one of the 1st ones we had seen right after we had attended a friend's wedding at Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle where it was gorgeous & had somewhat of the same style of wedding. We decided against it because didn't want it to seem like we were copying. Now I'm thinking maybe we need to reconsider it because the price was a tad more reasonable....
* Giorgio's - we fell in love with these place with the outdoor area when we saw it but decided against it b/c it was too far out east for our guests
* NYIT de Seversky Mansion - loved it but with the $2,500 site fee on top of how much it cost per person & the fact that you need to buy your own cake, became too expensive
* Vanderbilt Mansion at Dowling - honestly we told the person we were meeting with that we wouldn't go through with the appt. to not waste her time b/c it wasn't a fit for us with how the room was set up. I think the room was a rectangle shape.
* Flowerfield -atrium was too much for us but great food selection as was offered by LE's owners
* Coindre Hall - very unique & maybe too unique for us, plus we didn't like how the dancing area was in a separate room from the ballroom
* Crescent Beach Club - 'Uncle Bill' rubbed us the wrong way...haha kept referring to himself as that & made the experience felt like we were dealing with a car salesman rather than someone we wanted to plan our wedding with though the venue was gorgeous by the beach
* Westbury Manor & Cresthollow CC - had multiple weddings at the same time so big no for us. Though, Cresthollow CC had to best Iced Tea ever that was offered when we had visited..lol
* Jericho Terrace, Woodbury CC & North Ritz Club - friends just had their weddings there so didn't want a repeat for our mutual guests
* Swan Club & Harbor Club- a bit outdated I thought but don't quite remember now b/c it was one of the 1st RH's we had seen.
* Sand Caste - felt horrible but we sat in our car & cancelled the appt. knowing right away from the outside it wasn't us
* Waterview Club - great & interesting food selection, perfect for foodies but think this was the RH that was right across from the cemetery
* Windows on the Lake - though they block off the street when guests need to pass from the RH to the outdoor ceremony site, but the lake is literally across a 'semi-busy' street from the RH
* Watermill & Lombardi on the Bay or Sound, forgot exactly which one but have the folder somewhere - just wasn't a match with us

I highly recommend the Old Field Club!!!! It is so gorgeous and is my dream RH. I love the simple elegance of the entire place and how you are the only event there for the entire day. I know that you want suggestions on what we think should be improved. I def think that they need to update the bathrooms at OFC, and I wish that the bridal suite had a private bathroom as well. But besides that, everything is perfect!
