Do I need them? I was talking to someone this weekend that insisted that I need them or my invitations will be ruined in the mail.

Re: Inner Envelopes
I don't think you need them. I sent mine out end of June in outer env only and no one has complained that they were damaged. One envelope may cut your weight so you only need 41 cent stamp too. If not square or oversized you may be light enough for that - - mine were. HTH

Good idea. I never thought of that.

Re: Inner Envelopes
i like them personally. i think they add a more elegant touch... but i guess they're not really necessary.

Re: Inner Envelopes
Had mine not had lined inner envelopes, I think my invites would have been much more damaged in the mail. The outer envelopes were all beaten up but the invite and the inner envelope stayed much nicer.
I have received invites with only outer envelopes that were fine and some that were beaten up -- so I guess it just depends on that particular invite. If you have a lot in the envelope though, and it will be in any way bulky, go with the inner envelope.
I think the inner envelope looks a little nicer, but definitely a personal preference.

Re: Inner Envelopes
I didnt do the inner envelope. My invites got to everyone safe and sound. And I only had to put on a .41 stamp But, I do think the linned inner envelopes look nice.

Re: Inner Envelopes
We didn't use inner envelopes. My stationer actually told me that they were more proper without them- which I've never heard before. I think they were fine in the mail- nothing got ruined.

Re: Inner Envelopes
Ppl will say all kinds of stuff.
I heard (from a previous thread on here) that the tradition goes back to times when servants would open the outer envelope to reveal the clean inner that the lady/gentleman of the house would then open.
