Inner Envelopes... how are you all doing this?

Inner Envelopes... how are you all doing this?

Ok, here is the situation.
When I picked up my invitations from the store I was told the formal way to address the inner envelopes is to just drop the name. Example...
Mr. & Mrs John Smith on outer would become
Mr. & Mrs. Smith on the inner. This doen not seem right even though I trust the information I was given as the correct formal way.
What are all of you doing for the inner??? All opinions appreciated.
I am printing the envelopes myself on the computer. Finished the outer the day before yesterday... they came out awesome! Could not have gotten better from the printer. So proud of myself!
Thanks in advance!

Im going to address the inner envelopes in the way I would address them informally.

Mr. John Smith on the outer will be address as Uncle John on the inner.

We did Mrs and Mrs John Smith on outer envelopes and we did John and Jane Smith on the inner if it was family we used just their first names ex. John, Jane, etc.

Happy Planning

We wrote the way we normally address the person: 'Kathy and John', 'Uncle Tommy and Aunt Judy', 'Jerry, Lisa, Nicole and Gregory' (with kids) etc.

you can do either way..you can keep it formal and do they Mr and Mrs. Doe..or keep it more personal informal way and do AUnt and Uncle..
but the 'proper etiquette' is Mr. and Mrs. Doe for the inner...but YOU decide what you feel comfortable with.

I did the same as the others. I used Mr & Mrs. on the outside and Aunt Kathy and Uncle Joe for the inside.

I wanted to keep some formality since its an afternoon wedding...so I did Mr and Mrs Smith on the inner envelope...

I just couldn't do my parents and sister though...I wrote Mom & Dad and sister & FBIL

one other exception...I added some coworkers at the last second and didn't have time to find out significant others last names...but knew first names...so I did first names (but would have kept it formal if I had last names)
