as you may recall i had a question about church time last week. when we spoke to the priest he said since it was a friday we can have it whatever time we wanted. so we are holding the date for 2:00PM.
everyone (my parents, sister & FH) think this is too early. i picked this time because we are going to be taking pictures at the botanical gardens. they are very strict with their appointments. you only have 45 minutes & in April the gardens close at 4:30. so i figured a 3:45 appointment.
my sister came up with the idea of going to the gardens before the Church. i wasn't too happy with this idea but when i said it to FH he said, whatever you want to do. then he said we could get better pictures if we go to the gardens at 2:00 & then church after.
he is right about getting better pictures since its earlier in the day, but then that means that we will see each other before walking down the aisle.
what would you do??

Re: input needed with poll
i said pictures first bc 2:00 is pretty early for a friday wedding. Fh and i are getting married at the RH but we plan to do pictures ahead of time so i dont think its a bad thing to do...

I know it violates tradition but it just seems SOO much easier to do the pics first esp since u are getting pics at the botanical gardens

I voted for pictures first, but it really depends on what its most important to you. It is YOUR day and honestly IMO people will deal with whatever time you decide is best for you. If its really important to you to not see FH until you walk down the aisle then you should definitely take pictures after.

I personally don't want to see FH before the ceremony, so for me I would do it afterwards. Do you have your heart set on the Botanical Gardens? Is there anywhere else you could take pictures that wouldn't be so rigid with the time? I think 2:00 might be a bit early for a Friday wedding.

I agree with this. If you're ok with seeing FH before church, then go for it. A lot of people take pics now before the ceremony, so it's not entirely uncommon anymore. I personally would not though, because I don't want to see FH until the doors to the church open.

I would do the church first But to be honest this is something you have to decide with your heart and what you really want.
I am sure deep down you know what you want you are just second guessing it... go with your gut!

Re: input needed with poll
thank you all for your input!!
FH was set on getting married at the botanical gardens but i have to get married in church. FH has agreed since he knows it will make me happy. so by having the pictures done there FH is also getting what he always wanted.
plus every year since we started dating we have gone to the botanical gardens in April so its something special to us.
i guess i really have to think about this one.

I voted pictures first, because that is kind of an early time for church on a Friday and this way you don't feel as rushed to go through your pictures.

i'm all for taking pictures before. i have many reasons why i feel that way. for a friday i do agree that 2 is early so pictures prior would be a good idea

I'd take the pictures after the ceremony because I wouldn't want to see FH before but many photographers will set up a special moment for you and FH and capture it on camera, so that it's memorable.

I completely agree. I want to see him for the first time when I'm walking down the aisle, but if it isn't a big issue for you then take your pics before the ceremony. Whatever you're comfortable with.

i'm not voting cuz i'm not sure.
I agree that i wouldn't want to see FH before ceremony but u seem ok with that. Cool. But i understand the time constraints also if u do it after.
Question... since it's a Friday, which way will have more traffic that that time of day. Going to the botanical gardens or coming from the botanical gardens. Or if u do pics after the church how far are the botanical gardens from ur RH.
