Re: Inside Envelopes
If you know them well:
Jane and Joe
If not:
Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Re: Inside Envelopes
Really you can do whatever you want. I think the inside envelope should be less formal than the outside envelope and should just include first names. I would put the man's name first. Also I think the calligraphylady or something like that she is a vendor on this site has envelope addressing advice on her website.

Re: Inside Envelopes
This was a big question for us too. We looked on so many websites and they all said different things. So is basically whatever you want to do. We put first names on the inner envelope and I think we did the man's name first.

Re: Inside Envelopes
We did the inner the same as the outer:
Mr. and Mrs. John Smiith
Or if its a single with the guest the inner said:
Mr. John Smith and Guest

Re: Inside Envelopes
According to the ettiquette 'rules' the inner only has surnames and the first names of small children. I wanted to do first names for everyone to keep it casual but this was not possible since I didn't know all of my guests guests' first names...so I did this (the first couple we invited with their children):
