? Inspired by BHB post

So one of the girls on BHB who has actually been posting for a little while already, is not yet engaged but just found out her boyfriend has her ring.

My fiance had my ring for almost 3 months before he proposed because of when and how he planned it. I had no idea though.

Which of you ladies knew he had the ring before he proposed?

If you knew, how long was it before he asked you and how did you find out he had the ring? Did he know you knew?

I'm asking for an essay here, to be graded, 1 inch margins, double spaced

Haha.

Yes, I knew.

My FI told me because he is a spaz.

I knew he had it in March and he proposed in June.

I had no idea what it looked like though.

I did not know FH had the ring at all....i was completely in the dark...he actually told me one night .... i had gone to bed early because i was so sick..and FH took out the ring and was looking at it...he told me all of a sudden i came out of the bedroom to go to the bathroom (thank god i was in a daze and half a sleep) he had to through the ring in the box to the floor because he thought i was going to see him looking at it. but after he did purpose i asked him how long he had the ring for before he asked me.. and he told me about 3 weeks and then he couldn't wait anymore

Well we had talked about getting married for a while and I knew it was going to happen soon, but as far as when he pruchased the ring and planning on doing it, I had no idea.

After the fact, he told me he had bought the ring like 1-2 weeks before hand and he was keeping it at his parents house because he knew I would find it if he kept it at our house... i totally would have

I knew he had the ring! He went shopping for a setting (he already had the diamond - its a family heirloom). I had given him hints of rings that I liked all throughout our 9 years together and he picked out a setting, put a deposit on it, but was having second thoughts. That night he came over my house and asked to see my fav ring that I had saved. I was thrilled bc getting engaged was one of my favorite topics! He was acting a little funny, so I asked him what was going on. He didn't want to tell me that he went shopping, but he then decided that it was more important that I loved my ring than making it a surprise bc some of his family members didn't love their rings at first and after 25 years of marriage decided to change them! He wanted to make sure that I was happy from the beginning, so we went to the jewelry store together and I got to try on some settings. It was fun, but I was really nervous! He did a really good job, but I ended up picking out a setting that was just a little bit different. We went shopping in March and he told me 'don't get your hopes up bc I'm going to hold on to this ring til at least December!' So, the proposal was still going to be a surprise, but luckily, I didn't have to wait that long! He proposed in June

I had NOOOO idea whatsoever. the whole proposal was a complete surprise...we were at the beach and i never would have thought he would bring the ring to a mexican hotel...but thank god nothing happened to it...he actually had it with us in his little backpack while we were sailing too the day that he proposed waiting for the right moment. The only time i sort of figured it out was right before he popped the question...he was wearing a blazer and when i was dancing/huggin him i felt something like a box... but i had no idea before that moment!

Lol I had an INKLING! Since I deal with filing away all the mail, I saw a bank statement with 3,000 dollars missing. A few months later we were at a wedding, he got really wasted, we were talking about finances, and he proceeded to tell me he was broke because he had to put a big down payment on something. So basically he told me without telling me. When he actually gave it to me almost 7 months later, it was a complete surprise. I actually thought he was breaking up with me, and instead he took the ring out and popped the question lol

FH and I had been looking for rings (style etc) about a year and a half before he proposed. Apparently he had my ring for a year before we got engaged and he planned the proposal about 6 months before it happened.

FH likes to be prepared

I wonder how long he had it before he gave it to me- Jessie probably knows better than I do! LOL!

But I do know that a week before he actually proposed, him and I were raking leaves in the front yard and my MOH came by to hang out. She hung outside with us while we finished raking, FH ducked inside to 'use the bathroom'. At the time I thought he was just trying to get out of work. While I went in to get more garbage bags I see him whisper something to my friend and show her something that was in his hand. I purposefully looked away thinking he's showing her my b-day gift. Later I found out, he was showing her the ring!

I had an idea that FH had the ring but I wasn't 100% sure. We were going on vacation and I knew a proposal was coming so I def thought he had the ring at least a few days before we left.

Turns out FH had the setting made by a platinum jewelry maker in MA...and it took about 6 weeks for the jewelry maker to make the setting. FH told me afterwards that he was stressing out because the ring was sent back to NY sooooo close to when we were going on vacation...he actually received the ring the DAY BEFORE we went on vacation!! If the ring was sent out one day later I wouldn't have gotten a proposal that trip!!!!

I had noooo idea. We were together 4 years when we took a 2 year 'break' we were only back together 3 months before he asked me. He was planning on doing it in November but once he had the ring he couldn't wait SO he ended up asking me in July.

I believe he had it less than a week. I saw it the day he bought it

FH went with me to look at rings. I fell in love with the setting I have.

My mom used to work for a jeweler before the dentist thing and knows a lot about quality stones. So FH went with my mom to pick out the stone for my ring. My mom and I were under the impression he was going to put a deposit on the ring that day.

My mom was shocked when he pulled out a huge wad of 100's and paid it off right then and there.

It took about a week for him to get the ring.

FH and mom kept the secret that he paid it off.. so I thought he'd be paying it off for 6 months to 1 year because that was the plan.

Well a month and a half later he proposed!

I had no clue my FH had the ring. I had been pointing out settings that I liked in magazines and whenever we were in a store where they had similar settings. His mom asked me a few months earlier what setting I liked and what shape diamond. But I had no idea he bought the ring or planned on proposing so soon (I thought it would be around Christmas / New Years). But looking back on in now things make sense.
The friday before my birthday I went out with my girlfriends as an early birthday celebration. We ended up celebrating too much because I couldn’t even move the next day. I didn’t get why my FH was so mad that I told him I couldn’t go to the beach like we planned (he made a huge deal, like a 5 year old throwing a tantrum). We argued the whole day. Long story short the next day on my birthday he insisted we not go to the broadway show we had tickets for and instead go to the beach. The entire drive to Lido he was a nervous mess and I kept telling him to calm down that the beach isn’t going anywhere. I remember a coworker telling me that when her BF proposed he was acting so out of character and so the thought immediately crossed my mind but I dismissed it right away. We got to the beach and after an hour or two he proposed. Turns out he wanted to purpose the day before my birthday and I like a lush messed it up! LoL

I had no idea he had the ring. I knew he wanted to propose, but I really didn't think he had the money right now to get the ring. I was shocked when he proposed. He had only picked up the ring 2 days before we went away. Everyone else knew except for me though. I was wondering why they were all so excited for our trip to Coronado.

I knew he had the ring bc we went shopping for it together. It was a week after the ring purchase that he proposed properly. He shocked me with it at a dinner bc he called the jeweler and asked her to tell me that the ring wouldnt be back for two weeks.

He had it for only 2 days but I had no idea he even had it. I was completely surprised.
