what are some of the most absurd opinions, 'advice' that our dear and loved family and friends have given....
i'll start...
when i told my cousin that i will not be having chldren at my wedding...she hyperventilated and then told me that I should hire a babysitter to watch everyone's kids...

'...but what will people EAT at a vegetarian wedding?!?!?!'
Uh...
I wasn't aware that butternut squash ravioli, eggplant rollatini, vegetable strudel, wild rice pilaf, and vegetable stir-fry would leave people hungry.

My wonderful & amazing father strongly shoved his opinion down both FH & my throats that we should have our reception at a particular venue b/c the owners are his clients and it would be the 'right thing to do'.
Yeah, that would be FABU if >>>>>
1.the place wasnt falling apart
2. they were giving us an insane discount

When I told FMIL that there will be no flowers at the wedding she almost had a heart attack and told me that a wedding was not a wedding with flowers...really?
I told my mom that there will be no kids at the wedding and she said that she wasn't coming then because children need to be at a wedding..really? Like if children weren't there we wouldn't be able to get married.
I have no intentions of doing the father daughter dance, not because I dont love my dad but we just aren't that type of family we dont have that type of relationship and FMIL said that if she doesn't get to dance with he son she wasn't coming, like because I wasn't dancing with my dad she couldn't dance with her son..

FMIL thinks I should get married earlier b/c 'the babies' (FH's niece and newphew) will be tired. Its a good thing that my bedtime is after 8:00pm

FH's grandma told me to take a lot of photo's with just me and him staring into the camera for our thank you card. I'm like no, I like the more journalistic approach thank you very much.

i learned very early on not to talk about the wedding in front of anyone because all you get are stupid opinions.
my brother made a gazzilion stupid suggestions (as i am sure all brothers do). like my nephew playing the drums at our wedding. my nephew is 7. & he stinks at playing the drums. hes not even cute, it just sounds like a big ruckus.
my SIL wanted to know why i would 'bother' to change my name. (after this debate i just decided to keep my mouth shut)

ita with this. i only speak about it unless i really and truly value the persons opinion and wouldnt mind hearing what they had to say, this is only like 2 people.
my father told me to take about 5 pictures , 1 of me and my fh, one of my fam, one of his and 1 all together. he said, why are anymore needed??
oh there are plenty others, but i cant get into them or ill get upset, lol.

FSIL was trying to tell us we had to have our wedding in Summer 2011 because she is getting married in May 2010 and its not proper etiquette to get married so soon after she is, since she's older than FH.
Well, July 2010 it is!!!

Re: inspired by mzmahagony's thread on opinons...
FMIL was adamant about us having more than 7 choices for dinner at the RH. 7??? That's crazy, I'm sorry. We chose a place that was giving us 4 PLUS the veggie and we thought that was more than enough. She said we should argue for more. We signed the contract without telling her.

I sometimes think my mom forgets who raised her only daughter.
We won't even get into the BP debacle that was July 22, 2009.
I am pretty low maintenance. On a GOOD day I slap some makeup on and put my hair in a ponytail. She thinks I should do my own hair and makeup for my wedding.... Yeah, that's happening.
I half expect she thinks I should put my ipod on shuffle and play it at the reception and call it a DJ.
