are any of you making donations to American Cancer Society/American Heart Association etc.? My moms pushing this idea...What do you guys think????

I personally think its an amazing thing to do! I know a lot of brides are doign donation favors! I LOVE the idea!

i love this idea, my sister did it for my father who passed from brain cancer.. so she did a donation to the national brain tumor foundation in leu of favors. instead they decided to make cds of some of their wedding songs and passed them out at RD.

I love the idea....we are doing a donation to the Autism Society. I just feel like my money would be going to better use that way.

I love the idea! That is what I wanted to do until my mom made me feel like people would think that we would pocket the money. The weird thing is my mom has cancer and is currently going through treatment and my dad died of cancer when I was 4. I figured this would be the best way to honor him. I guess not.

Definitely. We're doing ACS and a veterans organization since FH was in the army. I think it's a nice gesture.

I think that I am doing a donation instead of favors...everyone i talk to really likes the idea.
also, my calligrapher said she can do like a cute scroll with a gold or silver band closing it, and on the scroll it can read what the donation is for etc...so it is still aesthetically pleasing

I'm all for it... you can also donate by registering through weddingchannel.com... Then, everytime someone goes through your wedding site and purchases from your registry, a donation is made to the charity of your choice...
I selected St. Jude's Childrens hospital... no charity more worthy than one fighting childhood cancer.....

We are donating to the american lyme disease in honor of my FIL. He died over 2 yrs ago from it.

I would really hope that people would not think that and don't let that be the reason for not doing something you believe in.

I think that my friend still does calligraphy. I will check with her and let you know. If she doesn't she may know someone.
