instead of favors...donation..

so i was thinking for a long time to do a donation instead of favors..so...can you girls give me some ideas where...and maybe web sites...i want to know how it works!

For my shower. Donating to breast Cancer research. Putting pink & white M & M's on the table with a little note.

My sister-in-law's sister died from breast cancer at age 41 and my sister-in-law had to have a double mascetomy at age 34 because she tested positive for the BRAC gene. So my donation is for all the women and their daughters and granddaughters.

My wedding I will donate to the ALS foundation in memory of my FH's dad who died from this disease.

My point -- donate close to the heart.

is there a particular charity that you are FH feel strongly in or is personally applicable (like maybe a family member is actively involved in a charity or suffers from an illness).

For example, if everyone knows you are the girl who loves pets, do the humane society.

We are doing a donation too.. two different ones.. One is for the Lung Cancer Society (for my father) and for the burn center (my FH is a Firefighter)

Definitly donate to a cause that is close to you and your family - I donated to the Melanoma Research Foundation and will also probably send an additional donation to the Melanoma Research at NYU - I am a two time survivor and they took great care of me....
I actually made up cards for each plate setting stating that I made a donation on behalf of the guests and will also put the certificates in a frame on one of the tables....

i will deff do donation...my mom just reminded me about St. Judes Research Hospital and i will probably do something for the animals as well!!!!
Does anyone know a good organizations for animals?>

well do you have someone in your fam or friends that has passed away from a disease? then i would donate there... like my grandfather had MS so if i was going to do a donation i would do it for that one

I was just about to post NSAL and then I saw yours. They are so wonderful there. We got both of my dogs from them.
We're also doing donations, NSAL and American Cancer Society in honor of his grandmother.

we are thinking about doing two different donations - the first one i want to do towards breast cancer foundation (my mother has been cancer free for a year now this month ) and it is very important to me to do the donation card and have those pink bracelets on everyones place setting - also to the rescue foundation where we rescued our cat from, they do amazing work and would like nothing better than to spread the word to everyone we know

FH &I are donating to the multiple myeloma foundation. My grandfather was diagnosted w/ this about 4 yrs ago. I think donation are a really good idea!!

We're doing this. We made a donation to the American Cancer Society, and ACS sent us cards to put at each place setting. Pics are in my album.

What about the ASPCA? Or even a local animal shelter?
