Insurance companies

Well, I am a pubic school teacher and have had the same insurance for 3 years +. I've never had any major problems. As some of you know from previous posts my son is on a nebulizer every 4 hours. So thats 12 packs of medicine a day. We ran out of one of his meds so I asked the doctor to call more in to the pharmacy. They did. I go to pick it up and the girl says $90!!

I said did you run it through the insurance,

She says there is no insurance

I said I get his meds and my meds here ALL the time

She said well it makes no sense that your card works and his doesnt. She said your insurance co is closed until Monday. You can wait until then or pay the full amount and you can get a refund if this all clears up.

Now, I have the money so thats what I did, but I got to thinking. What about a person without much money on some heart medicine or something. Something they need to LIVE. What if they ran out and the insurance co screwed them and they had no $$??

I cant wait to have it out with them on Monday

Re: Insurance companies

I had this happen to me on Christmas eve last year. I ran out of a medication that I have to take everyday and it is $400/mo. w/o insurance. I asked them to fill one week and I had to go back and forth with the insurance company to get the refund...it was a nightmare.

I hope you have better luck. Also, I hope Gabe feels better.

Yep, but no thanks to some idiots at the drug store. They were really the ones that couldn't get their act together.

Re: Insurance companies

I just cant imagine this happening to a family that couldnt afford to pay. Its just not right. I used to live paycheck to paycheck and if this happened then I wouldnt be able to get the meds for my baby! UGH!!!

I cant wait to find out whos fault it was though. They are going to get an earful! Why do I PAY for insurance if I cant get any meds? And how is the doctors office running itn all through (THE SAME DAY!) and it works for them!?
