My allstate broker just told me that insurnace for my ring is going to cost 450 a year??? I thought this way very highs ince I was just adding it to my home owners ... Any thoughts
If your FH or one of your parents is military/former military, you'd be eligible for USAA insurance, which is less than places like Allstate. I used to live in California, and I also found that AAA had much better insurance rates than the bigger carriers (although I only used them for car and renter's insurance). Maybe AAA in NY offers insurance. Sorry I can't be more helpful on pricing - I don't know how much my ring cost and so also don't know the cost of insurance.

Re: Insurance for Engagement Rings
I also have Jewelers Mutual and I also pay $130 a year. I could be wrong here but I remember reading that that is the price for a ring appraised up to $15,000.

Re: Insurance for Engagement Rings
We have ours with State Farm, we got a mutli-plan discount since we also have home-owners and auto insurance with them. I think it's $300/year but it might be every 6 months. I would call your current insurance agent and try to get a mutl-plan discount for everything...
Good luck!

Re: Insurance for Engagement Rings
We were paying about $200 but now it comes out to less b/c we have one big insurance package for all of our various types of insurance.
P.S. Just so you have a tue idea and you aren't ripped off, my ring is appraised for more than $15K.

Re: Insurance for Engagement Rings
Shawl, My FH has USAA insurance for his car. Can we insure my e-ring through that or does it have to be homeowners or life insurance??? (his car insurance is so cheap! can't wait to get married and put my car on his policy as well!)
