I know there was a forum on this, but I was wondering if anyone had recently insured their ring. Do I really need to do this? My FH and his parents keep saying I need to because it cost him a fortune.
Can anyone recommend something? Since I live at home I could put it under my parents until I move out. I just don't know how involved this can be.

if your parents have homeowners insurance I would just have them add it to their policy until you move out.

Re: Insureing your engagement ring
Since you live at home it would be a simple rider to your parent's home owner's insurance. Its not expensive & totally worth it. I have mine with my renter's insurance through State Farm- if its lost, stolen, whatever I get it replaced, no worries.

YES!!! You definitely need to have your ring insured. You wouldn't drive your car without insurance, why wouldn't you insure your ring? I wouldn't even leave the house with it until I called my insurance company. It's not too expensive either. I think it added an extra $100 per year to my renter's policy. If you live at home just call your call insurance company and see if they have a separate policy that you can buy.

We used Chubb insurance for mine. It might be a little more, but it covers just about everything.

That is what we used too. I actually got my bill already. I can't believe a year has passed already.

I used State farm. I added it as a rider (ryder) not sure how to spell it. It usually cost $20 per every $1000 spent per year. It is very important to have this. Accidents happen all the time!

Re: Insureing your engagement ring
You DEFINITELY need it. I was scared to death the first couple days before it was insured. There have been girls on here that have lost their rings, or a diamond fell out - you just never know. My moms went in the toilet bowl by accident!

My FH wouldn't even give me the ring until it was insured! We have a great policy through Chubb...covers everything and you get cash (some companies offer a replacement only)

We use Jeweler's Mutual as well...definitely do it....you don't want to be sorry if something ended up happening down the road.....most people end up losing their rings w/i the first 6 months of marriage....
We added the ring insurance to our home owners policy. If you can put it onto your parents policy that would be a great idea!

Re: Insureing your engagement ring
I insured mine the next day.
but there is another side - i dont mean to sound like a brat - im just being honest - but if a ring wouldnt cost a lot to replace- then the insurance might not be worth it - but if your ring, like you said, cost your FH a fortune - then definintely get it insured, so it can be replaced if you lose it.

Regardless of the price, your ring should be insured, that is JMHO
it is worth it

We also used the jewelry judge. DEFINTIELY get it insured, regardless of the price. Unless it was like $100...I don't see how any ring could be not a big deal to replace!
