Interested in learning about the wedding traditions will you be following

Other than the something old, new, borrowed, blue & sixpence in your shoe, what other wedding traditions will you be following?
I know that each culture and religion has its own set of traditions and rules, and i love to learn about this stuff (that's part of my job as an anthropologist), so please teach me!
I'll go first: It's a common tradition for Greek brides to write the names of un-married females on the soles of their wedding shoes. At the end of the night, they look at the soles, and whoever's name is still visible is supposed to be the next person to get married.

im polish and ukranian...so ill be doing this thing the parents feed us bread w/salt, wine
bread -hope that the bride and groom will never go hungry. salt - reminder that life may be difficult at times, but that they will learn to cope. wine - symbolizes the desire that the couple will never go thirsty, and that their lives will be filled with health and happiness
then we always sing a song to toast called 'sto lat' which means 100 years. so my moh is going to learn a line or two to initiate it : )
there may be other things, but for now im doing those two.
I love sto lat! its so much fun to sing at weddings! although I'm not polish ive been to soo many polish weddings, and I love that tradition!

it's an old African American tradition that has it's roots in slavery .. back then african americans were not considered citizens and therefore not entitled to legal freedoms and equalities.. actually they weren't considered human.. anyhoo.. as they weren't full 'man' they did not have the right to get married.. so they would 'jump the broom' which would symbolize the start of their marriage together..
here's an excerpt from wikipedia.
After the end of American slavery, jumping the broom was seldom practiced. It was not necessary once African-Americans could have European-style marriages with rings and other identifiers. Jumping the broom was always done before witnesses in order for members of the slave community to know a couple was married. No form of marriage was recognized for Blacks during slavery, therefore jumping the broom solidified this ceremony within the slave community. Once Blacks could have European style weddings with rings that were recognizable by anyone as a symbol of marriage, the broom ceremony wasn't required.

the married women in my family are making my wedding night bed - well my the day after my wedding night bed since i am spending my wedding night in a hotel LOL oh well
but i have had my wedding sheets since i was 8 years old!
I'm with you on that one!
My mom has a suitcase full of items she has crocheted for me since I was in the womb. And my grandmother began collecting bedspreads for my cousin and me when we were young. All of these things will be showcased at the Bridal Shower.
Although this is not a formal tradition, my grandmother insisted until she passed away that one of those bedspreads be used for the wedding night bed...it was just her strange idea. Nonetheless, this bedspread has been in that suitcase since I was 10 or 11.
