Interested in renting local beach house for reception

I'd really like to rent a local beach house for my reception. The gaudy Long Island RHs are NOT for me!!! I want something in Nassau or in Western Suffolk. Ideas??? If not, anything not so gaudy?

just a tip -- if you really want help, i wouldn't come on here calling long island rhs 'gaudy' as all of us are getting married in long island rhs. you've probably already insulted most of the people on here by saying that

i don't know that you're going to find a beach house big enough to hold a wedding reception in nassau or western suffolk. try looking at rhs close to beaches like allegria, bridgeview yacht club, etc.

LOL. You should really work with a party planner to find the location, not ask girls getting married on LI at what you call 'gaudy' venues.

Jennifer from Save the Date works out of Manhattan but could probably help you with venue searches for luxury homes that allow weddings.

For a first time poster you sure started off on the wrong foot. Did you notice you are LONG ISLAND WEDDINGS which would mean most of us are getting married on LONG ISLAND. To insult our taste and choice in RH's then to ask for help is insane.

Good luck on your search....NOT

Wow! Be a bit more vicious! My post wasn't meant to insult anyone, just voicing an opinion. As an artist, I tend to enjoy things that are not so trendy. Guess I should have chosen my words more wisely. I apologize and will cancel my membership to this site asap. I was looking for help, not an assault! It's amazing how defensive and nasty people can be during a time of such bliss. NOT FOR ME....thanks!

I wasn't offended by OP's gaudy comment. My RH is probably the gaudiest of them all!!! LOL Unfortunately, people get very sensitive about negative comments on LIW.

However, I don't know if you can rent a local beach house for a wedding unless you are willing to travel as far out as Suffolk County by Montauk. My friend got married on Long Beach but she ended up renting tents and having them set up on the boardwalk.
HTH.

hmmm I think she did cancel her membership... I just don't understand why she couldn't see people would get offended.

I cant see how she couldnt see how people would get offended either. She insults out RH then asks for help. Like she said she could have worded her post differently maybe it would have been taken differently.

haha i saw this when she first posted and was wondering how long it would take for people to respond. in fact, no one was really vicious...just asking that she not call our reception halls gaudy. overreaction, much?

I think we all need to be careful...all too often we've been tricked by fake brides to be looking for reactions and we usually give them just that. What real bride to be looking for guidance would say something like that? Just ignore girls, just ignore!
