I'm just thinking about this I haven't seen anyone talking about it on the boards. What would you do if you invite someone they responded yes with say 3 people then they don't show up to the wedding....wouldn't this pis* you off. You payed for them plus 3 and they don't show up. There fore your out the money and they don't give you a gift. Did this ever happen to someone? I would be upset.

Re: Interesting Question
My fiance's cousins told me to tell the hall 7 or so less people then I have and then change it right before to the 3 less then I have because someone always dose not show up. They all did this and it worked for them, so then you are not paying for guests you did not have.

Re: Interesting Question
I worry about that too. I have definetly heard that people who responded yes and then don't show.
I had a few for e-party and have yet to since call....THEY ARE CROSSED OFF OUR WEDDING LIST.
I think if it happened for wedding, I would be PISSED AS HELL!!

Re: Interesting Question
I know 10 people didn't show up to my brother's who responded yes. Unless it's an emergency, I'd be freaking ****ed off. You're spending god knows how much on this person for their dinner, the least they could do is show up, or respond no. Why should I have to waste money?

Re: Interesting Question
I had six people not show up to my wedding. Luckily...all six eventually did send gifts. At the time...I wasn't very upset. By the time the day comes you are so happy and you can't let things bother you. And besides......after all the money you spend...I felt like, what's another couple hundred bucks. I didn't worry about it. Some of their reasons were valid, some were not. I just said, 'whatever'.

Re: Interesting Question
My sis had at least 3- a couple- the girls bro died so obviously he couldn't go. She invited my cousin w/ guest, but his g/f wasn't feeling well so she couldn't come.

Re: Interesting Question
That is why you should tell your hall less people then RSVP and do the table seating as if they were their and if they do not show then they are just missing instead of paying for them too. If you want all the info on what I plan to do just FM me and I will give you my exact plan.

Re: Interesting Question
Our caterer actually told us to give him a final number with a few off the total in case this happens. The final balance is due on the wedding day but if there are extra people, they will bill us. I really respect that he does that as a standard practice! I think there are always a few people who don't end up coming for one reason or another and there is no reason to pay for those that don't come!
check out the NW boards...this happens to almost EVERY bride...
accept it now and you won't be as dissappointed...
many people talk about putting a lower number...but for me I didn't want to worry about placecards and making sure there were seats at the right table the day of the wedding...so if you do this...make sure that you delegate someone to do this...I saw a bride after our wedding that was running around with placecards and asking people if so-and-so was coming...not how I want to spend my cocktail hour

Well that is why I am going to set it up like everyone is coming and then at the last minute tell them their is three more people.

Re: Interesting Question
10 people that responded yes didn't show up at my friends' wedding. She gave the final number 8 less than RSVP thus only lost 2 people's worth. Its a good thing she did that!
I think its good to always say less than you are expecting. BUT ITs HORRIBLE that people do that.. don't they realize how much money is lost!!!!
I think if that happened to me, I would take the food home! Just so I don't loose all the money
