Ditto, why wouldn't she want to receive it in the mail.

I have heard where you can hand deliever the invite to people you see often. For example a co-worker you see everyday, your parents, his parents, close friends, even neigbors. I don't know your FMIL but I don't think she ment anything by it. I guess she figured you didn't need to waste money on the postage. I hand delieved most of eparty invites because we invited close friends and family. I don't plan on mailing my moms invite, or my FIL's. But you did nothing wrong, I think she might just be trying to let you know you don't have to be so formal with her. Which is nice, since your now becoming a memember of the family.

bizarro! we are mailing all ours out, parents, siblings, co-workers everyone. does she want to be special? or is she trying to save you the 63 cents on the stamp?

My grandma had wanted hers hand delivered but I forgot and sent it out with the rest, she got a lil upset but it was no biggie. Apparently it was something they used to do for your 'special' guests.

So to make up for it I had one framed and hand delivered that to her!! Phew, what a way to make a save!!

We mailed out ALL of our invites....I didn't know that it was an old tradition to hand deliver invites to special guests. Everyone got theirs mailed to them...even my sister who lives in the same house as me. I showed my FMIL the invitation before I had sent them out...but she officically got hers in the mail like everyone else.

My FMIL told me that 'the mothers' should have theirs delivered to them because they are special and should have unmarked pretty invites to 'treasure'. blahblahblah.....to keep her quiet, I handed it to her....

Don't stress, not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

I've never heard of that either, I mailed all of mine too. I thought it was a sign of respect to mail it and spend the money. I guess some people see it the other way around.

Heck, my next door neighbor mailed me my Christmas card. I just put hers in her mailbox.

it's just more BS .. wants to have something to say..always petty crap can't stand when certain FMIL's do things like this.

Wouldn't she want an idea of how long it takes for guests to start receiving them? I'm mailing my parents' and my brother's and I LIVE WITH them

Years ago, before the invention of the motor vehicle, invitations were hand delivered or delivered by horseback. Though today, you don't see many horses delivering invitations. Maybe Ron can buy an LIW horse for this purpose?

If you hand delivered it she'd probably think you were cheap for saving a stamp!
