Breaking of the Glass The wedding ceremony is concluded with the groom breaking a glass under his foot. Traditionally, this custom is a symbol of the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem. It is also a reminder of the fragility of human relationships; and a reminder that marriage changes the lives of individuals forever. Relationships are as fragile as glass and must always be treated with care, love and respect.
