We are not having any readings, but we are doing the hand ceremony and the sand ceremony.

Re: Interfaith Ceremonies - are you having readers?

I was a reader at my brother's interfaith ceremony in 2001. HIS family (Jewish) read two readings from the OLD Testament and my SIL's family
(Catholic) read two readings from the NEW Testament. I knew it was an honor to have a reading but my faith doesn't incorporate readings at weddings. She assured me that I would be reading from Genesis and I was very comfortable with that. It was the verse where Eve came from Adam's rib. I would never have read from the New Testament. It may be worth it to check out whether or not the readers are comfortable with what they are reading. Hope this helps.

I am also having an interfaith marriage and we decided on NO readings. Our cantor and minister will be saying prayers - this is how the ceremony will be preformed:
Opening prayer - cantor
Greeting/welcome - Father joe
Marriage vows - Father jow
1st reading - cantor
unity candle - father joe
ring ceremony - cantor
2nd reading - father joe
wine ceremony - cantor
the lord's prayer - father joe
hope this helps.

We're essentially having a Jewish ceremony and only a rabbi, but we're having 2 readings (1 by FI's sister and 1 by my MOH). The readings are not religious and are about marriage/love.
