Interfaith Ceremony on a Fri night, day after Passover? OK?

I have some questions that I keep getting different answers to. I am hoping someone can help me. I found two places I love and am ready to book. Both places offered me a Friday night wedding, April 2003. The thing is, it will be an interfaith marriage, so we will have both a rabbi and a priest. My first question is this. Will people be able to travel on the last day of Passover (thurs) in order to get to our wedding on Fri? I'm concerned about his relatives coming from Florida, is the last day of Passover celebrated like the first two? Also, do we have to be married before sundown? What about a Saturday evening, does it have to be after sundown? Thank you for any help you can give me. I would love the April 25th date, but am concerned that Passover ending the day before will not make it easy for the people traveling from other states. Thanks again.

I think you may have a hard time finding a Rabbi who will officiate on a Friday night. But it never hurts to ask. Good Luck

Interfaith Ceremony on a Fri night, day after Passover? OK?

I am Jewish (not very religious) and I don't see the last night of passover posing many problems in terms of travel. Sedar always occured on the first 2 nights in my home. As for a rabbi marrying you - well that's a tough call. I'm assuming it could be hard finding a rabbi to marry you at all on the sabbath. But like LaurenS said, it doesn't hurt to ask. And if they won't marry you after sundown, then I'm assuming they won't marry you till sundown on Saturday either...but who knows...maybe they are more liberal, being that they are agreeing to officiate an interfaith ceremony. Good luck!

Interfaith Ceremony on a Fri night, day after Passover? OK?

Hi! my FH is jewish and I am cathloic, We are getting married on a Sun. because his family in Isrial is very religious and WILL NOT come to our wedding after sundown on Fri or before sunset on Sat. We thought of having our wedding after sunset on Sat, but his family has said that they will not be there until way after sundown since they will not be able to 'get ready' (fix their hair, make-up, primp) until after sundown since it is 'working'. Since I am not jewish, I don't fully get why, but I do (have to) respect their religion. My FH and his parents are not as religious and do not care when we get married. You just may want to check with your FH about what his families wishes are. Good luck!

Interfaith Ceremony on a Fri night, day after Passover? OK?

ALso some people might not because some believe you can not get married for 45 days after Passover ends. But they might not be a problem for a reform rabbi but as for a friday night. You will have a slim chance of finding one. Friday and Saturday till sundown are the religious days of the week. it is like Sunday's Catholic people. SO i think you will have to try for a sunday or a saturday night . But you can try....

If his family is observant and if you are using a Rabbi, I'm not sure that it will work... You are not supposed to be married for 7 weeks after passover - although you MAY be married on the 33rd day after Passover. (This was news to me too!) There are not many Rabbis who will perform a ceremony during this time. As far as sundown is concerned, if you are married on a Friday, I believe it has to be before sundown (b/c the sabbath begins after sundown). If you are married on Saturday, it MUST be after sundown, when the sabbath is over. But all of this may depend on the Rabbi and the venue. Hope this helps!
