Re: Interfaith Couples??
I'm Catholic, but my FH's mother is Jewish and his father is Catholic. We decided we didn't want to marry in a church, but we did want a priest to do the ceremony.
We met with Monsignor Jim Lisanti of St. Thomas in West Hempstead. He was fantastic. He's very modern in his thinking, very down to earth - great sense of humor too (and handsome to boot!) What we liked best was that he asked us to write an essay about why we'd chosen to marry each other. He uses the essays for the ceremony so that he can personalize the homily.

Re: Interfaith Couples??
I was raised catholic Fh was raised jewish. Neither of us are practicing. We are having unity candle and breaking of the glass. Getting married by Rev. Deb at the RH. We are not having religous readings just mariage/love poetry. Our moms would like a more religous ceremony and my mom wants us married in a church but it was our (fh and I) decision not theirs. So we made the one that was right for us.

He's sort of religious , but not really. I'm super not so we're actually having no mention of religion at all. Just easier for us that way.

Re: Interfaith Couples??
We are having a rabbi (interfaith) and a pasteur (non-denominational christian) that his mom knows. As of now, I know that we are having a chuppah and will probably do the unity candle and have some readings. Not too sure if FH will wear yarmulke or if he will break the glass.

Re: Interfaith Couples??
I'm jewish, FH is christian. We're not very religious in terms of going to church/temple, but our beliefs and traditions are very important to us both.
We're having a cantor and his mom's reverand co-officiate. We're doing the unity candle and the breaking of the glass. I'm not sure about the readings yet - I really don't want anything religious.
Also, at the beginning of the reception, FH's dad will say grace and my grandpa will say the blessing over the challah.
ETA: We're also doing a ketubah - very excited about this!

Re: Interfaith Couples??
I was raised Catholic but consider myself to be more spiritual then anything and FH was raised in a Christian church but is now an atheist. We are having a friend marry us who was raised in Church of England but is now agnostic

Re: Interfaith Couples??
me- catholic him- jewish both- hate religion
we are using a judge in a civil ceromony. poets instead of the bible readings
I am getting a makeshift chuppah (but the top is gonna have a curve so its more like an arch). Mostly just becasue I think its pretty.
No breaking glass, yamucka (if thats how you spell it)
But I am doing the hoorah, (because I think it's fun........no real religious convictions involved).
good luck, I'm sure your wedding will be great

Re: Interfaith Couples??
We are using Fr. Joe and Cantor Cohen - both vendors on here. We liked them when we meet with them and they don't require a pre cana

Re: Interfaith Couples??
I am Jewish and he is methodist. He's not very observant and is being so amazing and letting me have mostly a full jewish ceremony. We are using Cantor Cohen who my fiance felt was laid back and relaxed enough for him. We are doing the breaking of the glass, circling 7 times, blessings will all be done in hebrew and english so everyone knows what is being said, huppah, and ketubah signing. I am currently looking for an interfaith ketubah. I know there are tons out there but the one we loved isn't interfaith so we're trying to find another one. The important thing is to make sure you both feel comfortable!

Re: Interfaith Couples??
oh and another thing - we'll do a blessing from my side over the challah and then someone from his family will do blessing before we eat. The only rule is they can't mention Jesus, but they can say thank you g-d for....
