Re: Interfaith Couples??
We haven't made any final decisions yet, but we will probably:
Light a unity candle Share a glass of wine Have FH break a glass
We might have a reading or two

Neither of us is really religious, but I do observe the 'big' holidays in my own way (fasting on Yom Kippur but not going to temple on a regular basis). My family has a very religious background though.
FH went to catholic high school, but doesn't go to church except for xmas mass. His mom goes to church every week.
So ... the tradition aspect is important to us as well.
Not sure if he'll wear a yarmulke ...
I'm hoping to have Rabbi Block as our Rabbi. He did my Bat Mitzvah! FH's priest probably won't do an interfaith ceremony, but I've heard good things about Msgr. Lisante. I'm waiting for another LIW bride to FM contact info. If you want I can FM it to you.

Re: Interfaith Couples??
We are using Cantor Jeffrey Forman probably, he is wearing a yalmulke(sp) and we aren't doing pre cana. My friend who is getting married in March is using Cantor Forman w/ another deacon and she did precana but it was only a couple hours!

Re: Interfaith Couples??
yes, if you could FM me any info i would appreciate it
we want to have both faiths represented so i dont mind using a cantor instead of a rabbi, but we also need a rep. of the christian faith - FH does not care if it is a catholic priest or a reverend

I'm Jewish and my fiance is Catholic. We are both not extreamly religious. We are trying to figure out who were using before we figure out how we are doing it!

Re: Interfaith Couples??
i am jewish and FH is 50% jewish 50% catholic. neither of us is religious however i have a rather religious background (like we are having a kosher meal option for some of my relatives) and FH's grandma is still a devote catholic - she still attends church regularly. so our ceremony will lean towards the jewish side while still incorporating catholic traditions. were def having a chuppah and breaking the glass. well prob have a unity candle as well. not sure what else yet but well prob use both a rabbi/cantor and a reverend (is that the correct title?).

Re: Interfaith Couples??
We're breaking the glass and doing a sand ceremony. We're getting married at the reception hall by an interfaith minister so it's not going to be a very religious ceremony, but we wanted some of the traditions to be incorporated.

Re: Interfaith Couples??
Hi, my DH and I are interfaith - I am jewish, he is catholic. Neither one of us are religious, and we did not want a religous ceremony. We had an interfaith minister perform the ceremony (Rev. Deb - a LIW vendor and EXCELLENT!). We used the unity candle and breaking of the glass, and other than that we did not have any religious aspects to the ceremony. It was spiritual without being religious, and it was also totally about US and our love for each other. It was an amazing, beautiful ceremony!
