Interfaith Marriages...

I'm Jewish & my FI is Catholic..
... and were going to have a Priest & a Rabbi perform the ceremony.

My question is this...
What traditions did you have during the ceremony?? Was it more of a Jewish ceremony or a Catholic ceremony??

Did your husband break the glass?
How did you do the procession?

I want my husband to break the glass and walk down the isle with his parents, but I know that most catholic weddings the groom and the best man wait at the alter for the bride..

I need some advice...
..what have you seen or experinced?

I am in the same boat as you. I am Jewish, he is Catholic. We are having a rabbi and a prist as well although neither of us really believe in organized religion. We are doing it as a gift to our parents.

I found a great book on creating an amazing interfaith ceremony. I borrowed it from the public library and I highly recommend it. It has the answers to all your questions. A lot of it is what you want to do as well. The book is 'Celebrating Interfaith Marriages' by Rabbi Devon Lerner. Check it out! FM me if you have any other questions.

We had a Ctholic/Jewish ceremony and incorporated traditions from both religions. We did the unity candle, readings from the Bilble and Torah, breaking of the glass, and blessing over the wine. My DH walked in with his parents. Our ceremony was nicely blended so it wasn't more Cathlic or more Jewish. It was a good combination of both.
