My husband and I used Reverend MarciaGrace Topin as our interfaith minister and it was the biggest mistake we made. From the first day we met her, she was all about the money, but my husband still felt she would do a nice ceremony. The night before our wedding, she didn't even know the name of our parents. The worst part was that during the ceremony, she was even more unprepared. She didn't follow anything I asked her to do and turned it into a stand-up routine. She even gave our reader my vows to read! She also didn't have the glass to break for the ceremony and made a scene even though it was her fault! To top it off, she annoyed several of our guests during the cocktail hour as well. Then she never even submitted the marriage license to our town clerk. We had to track her down about that. 6 months after our wedding, our guests are still coming up to us saying how awful the minister was. And we agree! We've also never been to a wedding where people have openly complained about the officiant!!! Luckily, our reception at the Fox Hollow was beautiful and we had a great time because of that. But if you're looking for an interfaith minister, I highly recommend not using ours!

My wedding was 2001 so I'll have to change that. I wasn't going to bother posting this but we got another complaint this weekend from a guest! And we just picked up our wedding video so we got to see the ceremony again.

We booked Rev. Tropin
Was it so bad you would say we should forgo the deposit & find someone new? We interviewed 4 different ministers & really liked her the best, but now I am very worried.

Re: We booked Rev. Tropin
I couldn't answer that question for you because she could be fine for your ceremony. When we first met with her, she pressured us into giving her a deposit right away. My husband had a good feeling about her, so we went ahead. He was extremely annoyed with her during the ceremony too. My biggest fear was that since we weren't using a Rabbi or Priest, the ceremony wouldn't be serious. I told her about this concern. And she made it exactly what I didn't want. After my husband said 'I do', she said 'And he knows the words.' When a groomsman made a noise, she stopped the ceremony and said, 'No more comments from the peanut gallery.' This was just a small sample of the running commentary she had throughout the entire ceremony. But the worst was when she lied to us about sending in the marriage certificate to the town clerk. What minister would lie to someone they recently married?!? But like I said, this is my horrible experience with her. It could be completely different for anyone else. But it was bad enough that I posted a message about her.
