Interfaith wedding experiences

Interfaith wedding experiences

Hi,
My fiance and I will be having an interfaith wedding. We don't live on LI but will be having our wedding there, as all of my family lives on the Island and that is where I grew up. We don't know any clergy and right now are considering all of our options from just having a rabbi, to having both a rabbi and a priest, or just having a justice of the peace, or an interfaith minister. I would love to hear different people's experiences who might have had or attended interfaith ceremonies. Also how you as a couple are deciding how to raise the children, and if you have found any sources of help to ease these discussions.

I'm Catholic and my FI is Jewish. We will be looking for a Catholic priest of Interfaith Minister who will marry us. FI doesn't want a rabbi. I don't really have any suggestions since I have started looking for an officiant yet, but I wanted to respond since you're my date twin!

We're having an interfaith minister and I wouldn't have gone any other way.

I too am having an interfaith marriage ceremony. Does anyone have the # of a Priest & Rabbi to recommend? You can FM me if you'd like.

I hear that some Priests and Rabbis actually work together on a regular basis - I think that is so cool!

We had both a Rabbi and a Priest. Everyone said it ws the most beautiful ceremony they ever attended. My friends were also married by them. Rabbi Block and Msgr. Jim Lisante married us. Mgsr.'s parish is St. Thomas the Apostle in West Hempstead. His secretary is Elaine and the number is 516-489-8585.
I had an interfaith ketubah (jewish marriage contract) and a candle lighting ceremony which both moms participated in. It really was a blending of two faths. I included explanations of the differnt symbols in the ceremony programs.
Have fun planning and make it special for both of you!
