In an interfaith wedding, if the groom is the catholic one, does he have to wear a yarmecule(spelling may be wrong). Should he wear one?

Re: Interfaith weddings
I'm also having an interfaith wedding and my fiance is wearing a yarmulke. I'm not sure if he has to but I think it would be a sign of respect if he did.
I think the officiant could tell you if it is required.

Re: Interfaith weddings
I am the opposite, my FH is Jewish and I am Catholic. He is going to wearing one of course but since no one in his BP is jewish, he was going to give them a choice. I wouldn't want anyone to feel forced to wear it. It is a very sensitive topic in my house, but I am not going to force him to make the sign of the cross he should not force people to do things that are a part of his religion. Of course out of respect for him, his groomsmen have agreed to wear them, except my brother.

Re: Interfaith weddings
It depends on where the ceremony is being held. If it's being held in a synagogue, definitely he should wear one, if not, then it's a toss up. He definitely doens't have to wear one outside of the synagogue although his FW may want him to.

My FH made it very clear that he was NOT going to wear one. I really don't care if he does or not, so I didn't bother argueing.

Re: Interfaith weddings
Hi.. I am catholic and my FH is Jewish. Of course, he will be wearing one, but i figured i would just tell you a little about our ceremony. please FM me if you have any other questions.
We will be getting married at Woodbury Country Club - by a priest and a rabbi. my FH has 6 groomsmen, 4 Jewish, 2 Catholic. (my brother is one of the catholic ones and will not be wearing a yarmulke, however, his other friend will) I ordered a few dozen yarmulkes that will be in a basket at the door, that way if anyone wants to wear one, they can.

same here...thats why we chose to have an interfaith minister..as not to promote one faith over the other..

Re: Interfaith weddings
I don't feel that having yarmulkes at the door or having the GM wear yarmulkes is promoting one faith over another. Talk to teh couple and the officiant and find out how they all feel.

Not unless he wants to. FH is Jewish, I was raised Catholic. He wants to wear one during the ceremony, which of course is fine, but we will not be giving them out.
IMO, handing them out at the ceremony does promote one faith over the other. You're not handing out rosary beads or crosses so why would you hand out yarmulkes?

Re: Interfaith weddings
we will be having a rabbi and a priest - being that we have both catholic AND jewish guests, they will be there if anyone of jewish faith wants to wear them. if you go to a church wedding, do you hand out rosary beads? i am catholic and i have never heard of that. we are not promoting one faith over the other, at least not in my opinion. i just want our jewish guests to have the option

Re: Interfaith weddings
We are having an interfaith wedding too. I'm Jewish, he's Catholic and he is not wearing a yarmulke by his choice, but I also never even thought to ask him if he wanted. IMO, if it is interfaith and we are supposed to be acknowledging both equally, it wouldn't be fair to him for it to look like Jewish ceremony with the groom wearing a yarmulke while we are standing under a Chuppah.
