Interior Decorators

just curious, approx how much does one charge? i know the question is very general, just wanted an idea.

for example, when we DO find a house and assuming the floor plan is exactly what we want (meaning no remodeling), but need assistance in re: coordinating paint colors, furniture, rugs, window treatment etc....

My DH's aunt hired someone to help her with paint colors and window treatments and stuff. She charged $250.

If you hire a decorator to do a room, and it costs you $10,000 for everything (rugs, painting, furniture), they will charge you $2000. Obviously, you can find people to do it per hour. But real decorators do it this way.

Jenny, that site is REALLY helpful.

am470 - sorry for the confusion. i was hoping that i could (when the time comes) hire some for directions/advice in re: room decor and then DH and i would do the work (paint and furniture/accessory shop).
