I want my friend to marry us - does anyone know what site to go to for her to become legal to marry us? I googled but way too many sites come up and some say make sure they are legal so I want to make sure I get the correct place.

I spoke with the Minister from Universal Ministries and he said it was absolutely legal. The only thing is if the ceremony is in NYC, then the person registering has to register also with the City. But if they sign up and pay the fee they are good to go. They just need to sign off on your marriage certificate and send it in within 4 days after the wedding.

My fiancés cousin is going to marry us and he used themonastery.org which was recommended to me by a friend who has married at least 10 couples, probably more, in New York without any problems.

so I was also thinking about having a close family member Marry us as well. A friend of mine is saying that this isn't a good idea, because they're not experienced. what do you ladies think? I really wanted to have someone close to us marry us. My uncle is willing to do it, but is there something where he could learn how to do a ceremony?

There are samples all over the internet so he can pull from things, he can meet with you guys and see what kind of ceremony you want to have, etc. I don't think its necessary that they are experienced in officiating, but it is important they are comfortable speaking in front of a crowd.

Our friend got ordained online to marry us. We met like 2 weeks ago so start talking about what he will say. I just googled 'wedding ceremony scripts' and so many things came up. We sat a pulled stuff from a couple and now he's putting it all together to make something. It was easy. I love the idea of someone you know doing it because they can add little personal touches.

Re: internet officiant info
I am 99% sure that Nassau and Suffolk do not 100% see marriages from online ordained 'ministers' as legal. Everything that I've researched so far has confirmed this.It is 100% legal if you get your license from NYC (one of the 5 boroughs) and return it to NYC.
I was told from a friend that got married about 4-5 years ago (also by a friend) that if anyone objects to your marriage (at any time....years down the road), that your marriage is null (again, this is hearsay). But how someone could legally gogo about nullifying your marriage...I have no idea!
So, that couple got married a few days prior by a judge. You can get a list from the town hall you get your license at. So that's what we are going to do....FH wants to make sure it's 100% legit.
A very good friend is performing our ceremony on the day of, and she's also getting married (next year) by a very close friend. They are also going to get married a few days prior by a judge.
She got 'ordained' by Universal Ministries.
