Internet RSVP option..yes or no??

Internet RSVP option..yes or no??

With today's technology, is having an option to RSVP through a wedding website trend, tacky, convenient?

For those that don't know, you can make a 'wedding website' through weddingchannel.com and it gives you an option to add your guest list and have them RSVP and even do meal selections (if it applies).

I'm a big fan of technology and thought it would be cool to implement, of course those stuck in the stone age can send back a reply....what do you think???

I wouldn't do it. You have to think about all of the different generations that are invited to your wedding. For example, my FFIL age 68 has never been on the internet. We are 34 and 37 with all cousins and sibling (except one) older than us. Not all of your invittes are that tech savvy. How would they reply. Also it does not convey the formaility of a wedding.

I know you are trying to cut expenses. Maybe a post-card reply. They are cheaper and less expensive to mail

I know that most of our families would've been completely lost. Most of them have computers, but as decorative items. I don't think for us it would have been an option. If your family is more hi-tech then I guess it might work.

IMO, tacky.

I decided not to do this, because I knew, no matter what, I would have to get some of the RSVPs by mail. I wanted to keep the RSVPs consistent, since there are so many details in the planning to keep track of. We did the website, emailed the link, but did the RSVPs the traditional way and I think it was less confusing that way.

I did use email to track down the delinquent RSVPs, however and it was a HUGE time saver!

I see how it would be easy for some people- but difficult for others.. and some things are just nice- like response cards. I agree.

I wasn't using it to 'cut' costs, because we actually have someone printing our invitations etc for next to nothing.

I just thought it would be the 'high tech thing to do'.

I vote convenient....but as an option not the only way to rsvp. My dad has no computer (although my grandma does ) and he would be lost were it not for the traditional rsvp.

Just know that a lot of people won't use it though. I went to a wedding in September with a wedding channel page and just realized (after this post) that they had an on-line rsvp option.
