Me and FH have our interview at the church tomorrow. What exactly goes on during this and do we have to bring anything??

Re: Interview at church????
Bring your baptismal certificates and confirmation certificate. The priest will ask you simple questions like where do you live and your level of education. We were asked if we attended church regularly and if we wanted to raise our children Catholic. You will also set the wedding date.

Re: Interview at church????
For the initial interview, we really didn't bring anything with us (I guess you can say we were unprepared LOL). We met with the priest and he asked us a series of questions about our religious backgrounds, if we were forced into getting married, have we been married before, how do we plan on raising our kids, questions about our parents/family life. He did ask us if we went to church and we simply said that we try to go as often as possible. Our priest was very laid back. He then told us a little about the ceremony format, fees involved, he asked us to get our baptism certificates to the church as soon as possible, then gave us a CD with musical selections and info on Pre-Cana. After we finish Pre-Cana, we have to meet with him to finalize music & readings. Hope that helps.

Re: Interview at church????
I second that...ours was very laid-back as well. We answered a series of questions separately..which I thought would be awful if we had contradictory answers. Wasn't anything major...If we were entering this marriage of our own free will, if we ever had mental-health counseling,...he really stressed over and over whether either one of us has been married before. We do not attend church on a regular basis either and he didn't seem annoyed or anything. I would say if you have your baptismal, communion and confirmation papers it will make things easier for you.
They didn't ask about 'pre-marital relations' or anything like that but he did ask me if my FH was a 'complete man' Found that one a bit strange.....Come to think of it..maybe thats how they find out about pre-marital relations without directly asking!!

Our priest was laid-back too. He didn't ask about pre-marital relations, just if we'd been married before, when I was baptised (FH's records are at the church) and gave us info on pre-marriage stuff. We didn't bring anything to the appointment, but we did ask things about the pre-marriage sessions and when/how we decide on readings and music for the ceremony. It was actually a pretty quick meeting.

Re: Interview at church????
mine was quick. they asked the basic questions, baptised, married before, why do you want to get married in church, how long have we been together, how did we meet.
other than that, fill out the paper work and hand over some money.

We didn't have to bring our baptismal certificates to ours, those weren't due until 6 mos before the wedding (we sent ours earlier because I didn't look closely at the book until after the fact but, whatever!) We didn't have to leave money either.
We were just asked basic questions. We were separated at one point, and I got a little nervous but, the toughest question we were asked was if we'd willingly accept children into our home if we were blessed (I guess he wanted to hear each of our honest answers).

I didn't have to do that...FH picked up an application from them, we filled out the date we would like and time and then he went to bring it back to them...They called me two weeks later to say we were in the books, since they hadn't opened an 08 book and we were the first to book for 08...I asked the priest what should we do next, do they need anything especially since i am of a different religion...He was like No dont worry about anything now you have plenty of time...Just have to bring baptism certificate 6 months before the wedding.

Yeah we didn't have to leave money either, or the baptismal certificates like i mentioned in the above posts...The form we had to fill out to request our date did have a price sheet though.
