Is it okay to wear a sleeveless shirt on an interview?

Re: Interview Etiquette
Being in HR and having interviewed many people, I would say no. Especially if this is a first or second round interview. Not by itself. If it is a sleeveless shell that has a suit jacket over it, okay. But do not take the jacket off. Hope this helps!

Re: Interview Etiquette
I'd agree with the last post--never wear just the sleeveless shirt or blouse alone, but if it is under the suit jacket they would never see the sleeves anyway. Don't take off the jacket though.

That is what I figured. I think I'll go with a 3/4 sleeve blouse instead. Thanks ladies

Re: Interview Etiquette
I am in HR as well and it can also depend on the type of job and the environment. If it is a very creative type place (like advertising where I am) it would not be a big deal - I had someone come in today who had on a short sleeved sweater but had a jacket over it - and took off the jacket. Looked very nice. So it depends where you are going. You also don't want to arrive a sweaty mess - so by all means, don't bundle up! good luck

Re: Interview Etiquette
I wouldn't. I'm in advertising too, and you never know what the other person is going to think. Jen just happens to be cool
My Mom taught me one saying passed down from an older generation.... 'Don't interview/dress for the job you have, dress for the job you want' That kinda stuck w/ me, and I try my best. Just food for thought

Re: Interview Etiquette
I'm saying no too, unless it's under a jacket. As an addition to mv's post - regardless of where the interview is, still dress appropriately, ONCE you get the job then you can dress like the rest of the office

I agree with the consensus. Its OK if its worn under a jacket. Otherwise, I wouldn't.
