does anyone else get tongue tied on interviews? or its just me? haha I just came back from one and I have the habit of answering the question before I know the answer myself...so i change what i'm saying like mid-sentence, is this normal for interviews? haha

Re: interview help
I think we all get nervous.
The one thing I remember learning that really helped was to listen to the whole question and then respond. take a second to process and then answer slowly.

totally! This is why I hate interviews.
And as much as I am close with my boss right now, I know I am going to be all tongue-tied later on in the year when I go in there and ask for a raise! I have no idea what I am going to say

I'm the same way. I hate performance reviews but I've seen so many slackers who get ahead because they can 'talk the talk.' soooo frustrating!
I always pause after being asked a question so I can collect my thoughts before I answer. As long as it's a 2 second pause and not a 2 minute, I think it's a plus.

Re: interview help
You probably are just nervous. The more interviews you go on, the more practice you will get. I know that sounds weird because you want the job immediately, but trust me, things happen for a reason. Also, the people interviewing you are just as nervous as you sometimes.

HAHA that happens to me all the time!!! It's really not funny but when you think about it, it really is. I get like diahhrea of the mouth and start babbling before I even know what I'm saying. It's like my mind can't keep up with my mouth. I've learned to listen to the question and take a couple of seconds to think about it and process the question. Then I try to answer without giving any more information then they are actually asking.

Yeah!!! one time I was sooo nervous that my mouth completely dried up to the point that my lips started making a noise when touching my front teeth while I was speaking...one of the interviewers was like...'would u like a glass of water'....
