They may ask you the last book you read. I think they ask that for all teaching postiions.

I'm not in education, but some typical interview questions I have heard are:

Why are you leaving your current job (if you are already employed elsewhere)?
Why do you want this position?
What can you offer to this position/school?
What do you expect to get from this job?
How would you handle ..... situation (i.e. child talking back, child not doing work, child doing poorly in class)?

I don't know if they actually ask these when you're applying for a school position, but it's all I can think of.

Hope this helps!

Definitely something about classroom management and writer's workshop. Good luck!

It has been a long time since I interviewed. I would imagine that there will be many questions that start with 'What would you do it...,' 'How would you handle...., ' I would anticipate questions that deal with classroom management as well as parental involvement.

These are the one I can remember from my interviews:

How do you teach problem solving
How to handle parent problem situations
How do you differentiate instruction to accomodate all learners
What are your professional goals
what are your strenghts and weaknesses
What would your literacy program look like
How do you teach reading

Hope this helps.... Best advice I can give you is to act confident! Good luck.

What district is it?

probably something on these topics...
Best lesson and worst lesson you've taught
what books you've read lately or your favorite books
Behavior management
Parent issues

Some tougher interview questions I've been asked include these:

What are you most proud of in your life?

If we asked your current supervisor what your biggest weakness is, what do you think he or she would say? Do you agree?

Where do you honestly see yourself in 5 years?

Give an example of a challenge in your current position and how you handled it.

Give an example of a challenging diverse work-environment and how you handled it.

Good luck with the interviews! They can be stressful but remember the person asking you these tough questions has had to answer them as well!!

I have to laugh. I have been using those buzz worded techniques for the past ten years and now they are considered current? I guess with 'no child left behind' and pushes towards inclusion, more ELED teachers have to do things that us SPED teachers have already been doing. I teach three grade levels at once with different materials in a mutisensory format. To me, that is differentiated instruction. Some kids are more auditory whereas others are more tactile and kinsethetic. I have no other choice but to be flexible enough to seek alternative ways to present information to my students as well as finding appropriate ways of assessment. It is not easy.

I have been teaching for 7 years and and sit on interview panels constantly and they STILL ask about this!

Unreal dont ya think? Why do they make interviews feel like a firing squad? I remember years ago when I first started interviewing, I had about 7 or 8 people on a panel. How do they expect people right out of school to not soil themselves on an interview? Shoot even with the 10 years of experience I have Id be nervous as all hell.

My district has teachers, administrators, parents and kids (!) on their interview committee.

I was interviewed by a 16 year old - it was so weird.

Not for nothing but I'd give the kid some Clearasil and send him on his way.

My interview for the school where I currently work (Queens High School of Teaching) was just like that - a few teachers, the principal, two parents, and two students. It was unusual, but I guess it's nice to get many perspectives when trying to make a hiring decision. If I was still a student, I'd be psyched about the idea of getting to help decide which teachers get hired!

ETA: Best of luck on your interview on Monday, Kathleen!

I would go on their school website. they usually give information about the programs they teach. get ready for those types of questions.
