Interview with a recruiter soon (followed by a tell me about your...)

Original post by JanuaryBride06

I haven't been on an interview in nearly four years.

This is going to be funny.

Can I have a job where no one bothers me, I can slack off for half the day posting and writing my own work, wear jeans and be as much of my weird sarcastic self as possible?

Job interviews are weird.

So tell me about your weirdest ones.

my worst interview was my only real interview -

It went well but then there was this awkward silence and you know when you are thinking (dont say that dont say that dont say that) that is what comes out?

WELL, i blurted out 'MY COUSIN IS GETTING MARRIED A FEW WEEKS AFTER THE POSITION STARTS WOULD I BE ABLE TO TAKE OFF FOR THE WEDDING?'

He started laughing hysterically and talking to me about his daughter's weddings and showing me pictures of them and stuff. THANK GOODNESS bc that could have gone SO BAD.

got the job and still work there!

You should come work for my company--we wear whatever we want, are sarcastic and pretty much do whatever we want.

Seriously--we're always hiring.

I don't get it! Why can't I find a job that is a nice relaxed environment. Please tell me what you do and what positions are open?

Well, I've been the interviewer recently, as I am looking for an assistant. I'm just surprised that people really dish about their current jobs. Maybe times have changed but I considered that a no-no when I was looking for jobs. I have not realy held it against these people b/c they have been honest.

a couple of weeks I went on one where the COO of the company told me that everyone who works at my current company is an a$$hole, so I asked him if he thought I was an a$$hole. Needless to say I didn't get the job.

The interview was for a teaching position at the Catherine & Count Basie Middle School in Rochdale Village. The assistant principal looks at my resume and says:

'Well you can have the job if you want it, but I should let you know that I wouldn't let my wife or my daughter work here.'

ME: 'Hmm thank you.'

A.P. 'Do you have any questions?'

ME: 'Yes. What is your turn over rate for teachers?'

A.P. 'Two and a half years.'

ME: 'Thank you for your time.'

(Two and a half years left me thinking that a lot of teachers LEAVE before a school year is finished.)

I actually dissed my old job some to get my new job. I had no great answer to 'why are you leaving...' type questions b/c the biggest reason was benefits and the old job was my first on LI so I didn't have a lot to offer that they could consider me for...but you know, I would've left just for more $$$ or people who speak English. So I dogged them for their inability to speak English and the huge language barrier and how it kept me from being able to really perform. It worked...I got the job with awesome benefits!

I recently went on a lot of interviews, good and bad, but the most annoying thing i was asked in every interview except for one was 'are you married?' 'do you have any children' 'what do you do in your personal life, i mean, do you date alot'. Grrrrrrrrrrr...one said to me that they wouldnt hire a women with children and another said that after i got married i should go on my husbands insurance so he can give me a raise at that time!!!

BTW the job i accepted was the ONLY one that did not ask me these personal questions...
