intro//time crunch//photographer help
Hi, ladies! Sorry for the long post to follow, but it's my first one so please forgive me ;)I'm new to the forums, but I've been engaged since June 2011 to my high school sweetheart.
We finally set a date and booked our venue. We're getting married Oct 17, 2014 at the Riviera of Massapequa.
It seems like our wedding day is a lifetime away, but it seems like everyone else is busy planning their 2014 weddings and now I'm worried I'm behind.
I'm originally from Long Island, but we're currently living in San Diego, and planning a wedding from the other side of the country is rough. To make matters worse, we're both in the military and our deployment schedules are not making it any easier to plan. He's on month 5 out of a 7 month tour in Afghanistan, and I get ready to leave next month.
I'm home for two weeks on leave, and trying to book as much as possible before I go on this year long deployment. By the time I get home, I'll have only 9 months before the wedding. If I'm stressed out NOW, I can only imagine how bad it's going to be when I get back and still have a thousand things to do.
I want to try and knock out the photographer first, because that's my number one item. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking for something fun, vibrant colors, and unique.
Thanks for reading all of that, I know it was a lot. Can't wait to get to know all of you and congrats to everyone on their engagements :)

You're not really that far behind! I'd say the big things to book before you leave are photo/video and DJ/band. Get a list of The Riviera's recommended vendors and see if you like any of their stuff. DEFINITELY check out Thomas Paul as I immediately thought of him when I read 'vibrant colors' and 'unique!'Best of luck to you for the next year, and thank you for your service! Good luck and I hope this helps :)

Welcome and congrats!! I'm not sure what your budget is, but I always highly recommend Gina Esposito. I also know that a lot of ladies on here recommend Fade to Black photography as well. Good luck and happy planning!

Don't feel stressed my friend that I have known my whole life got enaged a few days after 4th of July of this year got married September 23rd of this year she planned the whole thing got her dress everything within like 2 months. Booked a venue which you already have so thats a big plus. So don't stressed just write a list of items that you definitely want booked before you have to leave for deployment and work in most important order on that list. As far as photography do you have a budget that you want to stay in range of? Also have you though of hiring an event planner I hired cheeky Glam and I am so glad I did. I do as well as my fh do not do well with stress and I stress out easily. I knew I did not want to spend the next two years stressed out and just going insane so he suggested lets just meet with a few see what they have to say. I read reviews on here of who were th best and cheeky has flawless reviews. I met them I was in love and my stress level went down like 100%. The get back to me with in the hour of writing them. Answer every question. Even if I am thinking a question but don't ask it they answer for me they are amazing. I hired them as event the package included them as doc. I can't express enough how great they are. The do the search and negotiating contact the vendors. I tell them what I want and where I want to be at budget wise and they do the rest. The knew what styles we like and our theme so they keep that all in mind.

My first thought was Thomas Paul also. I booked with him and, so far, couldn't be happier! We had our engagement shoot with him in October and he made me and FH feel so comfortable. I'm glad you checked him out already!
