Introduction and Unique Ideas (Long)

Hi everyone! My name is Diane, but that was already taken so I choose Shorebride as my username. My fiance and I wanted to have a reception with a 'beachy' tropical touch and we are getting married and the Larchmont Shore Club so I thought that was appropriate. Anyway, I am gettng married next summer on July 13. This is my first time writing to everyone. I just spent the last 45 minutes reading everyone''s comments. I am so excited this seems like so much fun. I can''t wait to read more. Since everyone gives such great advice, I have a question...I want to have something unique at my reception for my guests to look at. A lot of people have really nice collages, but I have 2 cousins who just got married and they already did that. (I''m the type who just has to be different--not that that is always a good thing!) Then my sister got married this July and I made a scrapbook of her entire engagement. Which was a hit, so that is an idea for everyone out there. But now it is my turn and I want to do something different. Does anyone have ideas? I would love to hear them. Thanks a lot. I''ll talk to everyone soon!

Tables as Years

Here is what we are doing for my wedding in 6 days!!!!!!!!! Each table is a year. We are having a 5x7 card with pictures of us from that year. We had a lot of fun picking the pictures and guessing they years. I think the guests will go from table to table looking at the pictures of us and of course we are sitting at table 2001. I hope you find something you like. good luck.

Movies

A friend of ours did movies. He's a bit of a computer wiz, so he took classic movie posters, like Casablanca, and put their faces on the posters. Very cute and original. Each table was a movie title.

beach idea

How about using a beach ball as a guest book? You could have people sign it in permanent marker.

Introduction and Unique Ideas (Long)

I just went to a wedding last Friday where the couple's engagement prrtrait was taken at the beach. Then they had this matted, and hung it up for all their guests to sign. This seems to go along with your theme. I am new to this site as well and totally agree that this greta for brides to give and share advice and ideas. I loved your scrapbook idea and would love to hear more about it. If you have a moment e-mail me at [email protected] - Good luck!!!

You could have a slide show of you and tour FH...

I've seen this done at weddings during dinner. its a slide show of the bride and groom . its just pictures of you 2 as babies up until present day. a lot of couples use their engagment pictures from their photographers to be included! it looks great and there is music that plays . its a nice idea! happy planning! ~*~HEIDI~*~

Introduction and Unique Ideas (Long)

I think it was InStyle Mag that suggested using names of cities or favorite flowers to identify tables instead of just numbers. Also, for intro why not choose a special song as your entrance. One of my friends had her father introduct them into the cocktail hour instead of reception, and then the bridal party was introduced simply by being discreetly asked to join the first dance of the bride and groom. It is a little different, and not as 'football stadium' type intro...(loud cheering, whoo, whoo-ing of guests).
